Just spend an extra £150 if you want a cheap version of the 1073 and get the Warm Audio one ffs. The AMS Neve one is 1500.

You dont need the stereo version if you're in a project/home studio. You're probably only recording one thing at a time.

I thought Sandra Bollocks cried a lot in Gravity. JLop outdoes her with the histrionics in Atlas, however. Holy fuck, can she just stop blubbing for 5 bloody minutes. I hate these movies (does it show). Give me Alien for a strong scifi female lead.

I've got a couple of good mics now after years of working hard to save the money. I've a modern pair of c414s (sadly Hungarian, not the Austrian ones). I've an Austrian Audio 818. A pair of 040 micro SDCs. Drum sets, Shure 57s etc etc..

...there is a church down the road from me (and probably many others near me) that always sounded cool. Even as an atheist its tempting to email them and ask about hiring it as a recording space, or ask if they have a choir.

@mxtthxw what I have found weird is how the Fifine 30 quid mic has become one of my faves. I also have an AKG d65s from the mid 90s thats still amazing. That thing cost me £30 in the 90s.

@emsquared I still think the DAW companies should work on their own custom OS's. Then maybe things would be more stable, more audio interfaces would work properly for less CPU....

    Playing around with a 12/8 time signature today after watching some videos on Afro-Cuban and Caribbean rhythms. Sounds nothing like them, obviously.

    I use a pair of these, passive mixcubes to master my tracks... they have what's referred to as a 'useful musical range' (basically 90 Hz to 16 KHz and generally pretty flat), A/B stereo/mono and let me know what my music will sound like on a shit listening system.

    They're also good for tracking any bass being pull;ed into that range in a mix.

    I thoroughly recommend them, or similar.

    Reading all of this I have to ask you all...

    ..how many of you use reference tracks and music you like through your main mixing setup?

    I just mix on ATm50x's as thats all I can set up. But I listen to everything on them from classic rock, classical, TV and movie audio... I used to do that with the RoKits 24 years ago.
