I know this sounds like an old people thing. It's definitely a Gen X version of something Boomers do. If there is a web article I really like I save it locally as a PDF. Why save it? Because of web rot. Why PDF? A lot of modern websites are designed not to save a useful totally local static copy and sometimes references style sheets or JavaScript code that becomes broken later thus I'm down to reading raw HTML text later on.

This totally nails it! Something not lasting forever doesn't automatically make it "a failure", less "real", worth "less", etc. The only thing constant is change. Don't turn a good thing/experience into a bad because it wasn't "for all time". Appreciate it for what it is. (From Tumblr User BrightWanderer)
