Yeah, writing.exchange adds a red border as a telltale that the alt is missing. Every server should implement it, but they don't.

There's also a bot you can follow that will scold you if they detect you've posted an image without Alt. I get scolded about twice a week.

I ended up researching epistemology today to blow the dust off an undergraduate philosophy lecture from long ago. I didn't know I was going to need to add that as a theme to the next book but now that it is, it seems obvious and perfect.

Q1: Every story needs some research:

While I could imagine a children's book, like Dr Seuss, that springs entirely from fantasy—I don't think I'd be able to pull it off.
All of my stories are grounded in our reality and burdened by sometimes gritty details about science, politics, geography, and more. For science fiction especially, if you don't get the science to at least rhyme with real findings, your readers will let you know.

If the wealthy 1% of the world would come together and work with the lower 99% to create a better world, to end homelessness, end hunger, educate the masses, protect the environment, pursue clean energy—I would advocate for leaving them untaxed.

But, as they are now, ignoring all of those problems and making them worse—I say we tax them at 90% and do all those things with the revenue.
