In chapter 99,999 of Idiots in National Parks: May I present these imbeciles: Decided the AWD on the rental Porsche SUV was okay of handle 4 wheeling in a protected area of Death Valley. Got 200 feet. (The off the books pickup they hired to pull them out also got stuck AFTER the Rangers told them they needed to supervise the removal, yet another genius move) And shockingly a BMW also got stuck as well in a different area of the park attempting the same. @ai6yr as it stands today. The oddest thing has started happening over the last 4 years. Someone has adopted these libraries and rotates the books if they don't move lol.

The only other issue is certain religious organizations were flooding mine with their information. While I am not a censor, I asked them on multiple occasions to stop (I am not talking about one pamphlet here but rather literally filling it to the brim, and would return the literature to their church/temple. The did not so now I just chuck it into the recycle bin. It died off now and is not an issue for now

@ai6yr NICE! I built mine in 2015. Tried to make it look like our Eichler. I had a sheet of copper left from the fence I built in the background and used it to cover the roof and it really helped in the long run keeping it dry. I way way overbuilt it but it survived even a huge ass tree branch collapse in 2020 lol

@ai6yr My dad always said that looking at someones car is a poor way to judge wealth. Leases and car loans are pretty easy to get. That dude could have leased his car AND fake Rolexes can be hard to spot

I had an Uncle who was crazy well off. And his stuff was super nice, but understated. Truly rich do not want to draw that level of attention like the huge blingy watch

@ai6yr So I wonder. I know a few people that work there (They have a test/research center in Palo Alto). The PowerWall's batteries from my understanding are the ones that did not make the cut for the cars.

if the battery is still good, I wonder if you could simply have it towed and use it as a battery for your home system? Not a cute as. a powerwall but...

@ai6yr LOL its pretty brutal there though. That is the official rate too, in reality its much much higher. We were there April 2023 and even when we hired a guide they would only take USD or Euros. It also was amusing every morning to watch the Russian citizens line up at money changing places to exchange bitcoin for hard currency as they are shut out of the banking system

On the other hand if you want to eat like crap that Popeye's meal is a deal (for us at least) for under $2 USD and no we did not partake BTW

Composting is an alternative to the landfill where leachates, landfill gasses, and many other nuisances will affect the neighborhoods of those sites.

Composting will reduce those issues and is a #climateaction you can do to help reverse the #climatecrisis.

@compost saves you money as well. Free fertilizer and soil conditioner plus you may be able to get away with paying for a smaller garbage can depending on how much compost material you divert

@ai6yr OMG this takes me back.... Never seen it quite this elaborate. Was part of the extensive hazing in our scout troop.

Mom's were not spared either. The list of required equipment included:

a bacon stretcher
a smoke shovel
an ear drum

There was only 1 REI in Nor Cal and that was in Berkeley so it was mostly Surplus and Camping stores. Many of the clerks were in on it. The moms would be pretty pissed having spent a day getting the run around. Welcome to troop and post 153, San Carlos, CA

Summer Camp was no different and the staff at Camp Chawanakee (near Shaver lake) would also help. We would send new kids to the Outpost which was a good 3 miles round trip looking for 50 feet of shoreline. We would always send at least 4 cause they would come back lugging 1" manila rope which weighted a ton. You look at it and say "No, I need right hand weave not left" and they would carry it back and return saying they were out but they had timberline and it would repeat lol
