How could it be I've never heard of the US State Dept's Bureau of Intelligence & Research?
"INR is the Cassandra of American intelligence, and it earned that reputation the hard way."
They succeeded in some famous examples where the CIA failed.
There are great lessons here in keeping organizations small & individuals responsible, though frankly, having worked on spaceflight missions, I've known this little truth for a long time.
Do any of you do video editing ... perhaps for a podcast or maybe personal home videos? If so, what is the best, most easily used video editing software out there?
I don't need all the bells & whistles, but will need features like splicing video segments (from diff't sources) together, some nice (not over the top) transitions, ease of use, & good quality end results.
But my guess is that "standalone" is some kind of self-contained binary that runs in place, while "installable" is some kind of package that installs natively. (?)
The last time I did anything on Windows was 2017, though.
Here's another inquiry thrown out into the Mastodon fediverse ...
Any of you live in Vancouver, B.C.? As you might have heard, I'll be going to the early December #TaylorSwift concert at Vancouver's BC Place stadium. So I'm wondering: what are the best, not-so-expensive places to stay nearby?
Thanks for any advice you can give on procuring lodging near (or maybe somewhat near) the stadium around the concert day!
Are there any serious amateur astronomers out there? If so, I'd like to know what Saturn looked like to your eyes during Cassini's 13 yrs there. Did the rings look white? Pale pink? Beige? What about the various bands in the atmosphere? Did colors change w/ time?
When I asked this ? abt Jupiter prior to Cassini's Jupiter encounter, I received guidance frm those amateurs who specialized in color. Doing the same now.
Today it's another episode in 'Remembering Cassini', a 20th anniversary celebration of major milestones in the mission along with behind-the-scenes stories.

Human civilization is about 6000 years old, & we're still trying to kill each other.
