Wondering what the world would look like if we implemented "Universal Basic Website".

Entitle everyone to their own domain, a few GB of space, the ability to run simple apps / blogs / etc.

What does the world look like if people aren't beholden to Flickr / Facebook / Google Photos to share their family albums?

    I‘m sorry for going on and on about this, but something about my recent #Emacs Lisp journey has brought out the 15 year old neckbeard in me.

    I‘ve now ordered an extra NVMe drive to safely test out:

    1. #Ubuntu
    2. #FreeBSD
    3. #Guix, and
    4. #OpenBSD

    What else should I be trying? Give me more freedom than I can handle.

    If you walk a distance D in a straight line on a plane, the area swept out by a line pointing to your left of length L is D L.

    Walk along a great circle on a unit sphere, and the area is D sin(L).

    @writeblankspace I too avoid ms office for libre office. Are you required to provide an editable version? Because if you can submit the pdf (landscape for a ppt, portrait for a word doc) then you can produce the pdf with open source tools for latex like miktex or emacs org mode beamer and lay it out just as you like it.

    @writeblankspace in these circumstances I usually at least submit .odp/.odt/.ods which MS has full support for. Others are often fine working with that. Babysteps.

    I'm really struggling to get what happens with recursion. I know this code counts a char occurrence in a string, but how does that? Anybody dares to try to explain to me, as if I were a 4 year old? (Which, technically speaking, and if we talk about "coding age", is actually older than I am...) ;)

    @array hi, I'm a function! Woah. You're gonna pass me a string. Is the string empty? Then I'm gonna return zero for the length. Otherwise, I'm gonna take one character out of the string. Then I'm gonna ask my dad how long the rest of the string is. When he tells me, I'll add one to it for the character I took away. And you know how my dad figures out the length of his part of the string? The same way I did!
