Extremely impressed by #GCC 14.1 static analysis (-fanalyzer). Not only really finding real bugs but enough information to convince oneself of the reality of the issue. A bit frightening on an old codebase.

That's quite the smoking gun. For those who didn't follow, the UK post office used a faulty accounting software, and rather than investigating the software, even after being warned, accused people of stealing, leading to some cases of innocents thrown in jail and some suicides. I truly hope the people responsible for the coverup, starting with that Vennells character, go to jail, but alas elites are shielded from their actions... #horizon #uk

The Hacker News discussion on the subject have comments shedding more light on the issue. Another interesting one is the use of spinners on top of plagiarism, leading to hilarious examples such as "deep learning" being transformed in "profound learning". Academic publishing is really sick.

What can you get to within a 15-minute walk of your house?

A recent YouGov survey asked Americans what they think they should be able to get to within a 15-minute walk of their house.

Of these choices, I can currently walk to all of them from my apartment, aside from a university (no biggie, I'm not currently studying, although there is a Tafe within walking distance), a hospital, and a sports arena.

How many can you get to with a 15 minute walk from your house?

@ajsadauskas @fuck_cars I wonder why they included gas stations unless it's for their use as convenience store. Buying gas as a pedestrian is a very marginal use case...

Re-post: I would like to ask for your help.

As part of my dissertation project, I'm aiming to collect a large research sample to help construct a validated measure on Teacher Attitudes towards Multilingualism.

If you are a teacher (primary, secondary, tertiary education), and you teach multilingual students, could I please ask for 10 minutes of your time?

The survey is available here:

Please boost—thank you so much!

@jaap @edutooters @academicchatter my wife, who is target demographic, stopped mid survey, puzzled at the one dimensionality expected of the answers to what are pretty complex questions (I am as puzzled)... Can't have absolute answers for things that are so context dependent, and I don't see what kind of knowledge can be extracted from such mutilated data.

Reminder: Elon Musk intentionally shut down Starlink operations near Crimea last year to undermine Ukrainian naval drones

His decision came from calls with Putin

Why are my tax dollars making this man a billionaire?

Why is he allowed to openly collude with war criminals without the gov’t nationalizing starlink / SpaceX?

Why is he still receiving DoD contracts?

And why are wine mommies with 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️ #Resist in their bio on Twitter?

@Gala faut 1300mm par an.

    brohee,
    @brohee@pouet.chapril.org avatar
