A jury has sided with Epic, ruling that Google abused its power over distribution of Android apps by prohibiting 3rd-party app stores & billing from Play Store. But Google will appeal, so any major changes are unlikely in the near future. https://www.theverge.com/23994174/epic-google-trial-jury-verdict-monopoly-google-play

Most popular Linux distros for the Pinephone use the same custom version of the Linux kernel, developed by megi, but that developer has shut down their GitHUb account, making it more difficult to work with. At least one is considering dropping support for the original Pinephone and PineTab. https://blog.mobian.org/posts/2023/09/30/paperweight-dilemma/

@vitriolix I definitely prefer reading on a distraction-free, dedicated device with an E Ink display.

But I'm not sure if I'd buy a pocket-sized device since I already have a phone. Instead I usually just try to keep my eReader and mobile app in sync so that if I've got a few minutes to read on the subway I can pull out my phone and then pick up where I left off using my eReader at home.

But I suppose some folks might not want a 2-device solution.
