I've been meaning to cut down my power usage without disrupting my lifestyle too much, the first thought is for me to "decommission" my HTPC which I keep running all day, asleep at best, just so it's ready for me when I want to sleep and need it to watch #YouTube (so I can get to sleep lol).
The "easiest" replacement is get an #ARM based computer to take over its job. My first thought it should run on #Linux just bcos I'm most familiar with it and it's an open ecosystem so I should be able to do a ton of things w it - but I only have a Pi 4 and that thing honestly sucks at streaming so nope. Tried #LineageOS on it to get it running #Android TV and while at first it seemed great, it ended up being quite a hassle and a mess so I ditched that.
Then my dad asked me to get an Android TV box/stick for his TV, and I got him the #Xiaomi Mi Box S (2nd gen). After I set it up and used it for a bit, I honestly kinda liked it. Tried #Plex, #Netflix, #PrimeVideo, etc. and they all ran great. The only downside I thought to this option is that I won't be able to watch YouTube with adblockers like I could with something like #Firefox on a desktop.
THEN I quickly discovered the existence of #SmartTube and GOD what a lifesaver it's been. It works just like the official YouTube client with all the pages and algos you're familiar with when you've authenticated, it blocks YouTube ads, but also it supports #SponsorBlock right out of the box without needing to self-host or wtv so it could even block sponsor segments in video if you want. Even has some nice accessibility options too like changing the subtitle colours, size, and positioning which is great for me who watches vids in bed w no audio.
This rant ended up being very long unnecessarily lol but all in all, that removed the only dealbreaker for me on getting and using said TV box for myself - so I did and have been using for abt a week now. The box turns itself and my TV off automatically after 30 mins of inactivity and I can easily turn the box and the TV back on using just my remote which is nice. Idek what'd I need the HTPC for anymore honestly since I already have a #SteamDeck to take over its job gaming wise much, much earlier.
A quick check in on the Xiaomi 14, and while this is an awesome camera, it turns out I TOO have issues with condensation and the lens fogging up. Has YOUR Xiaomi suffered similar issues? Has Xiaomi fixed or exchanged your phone?

While we try to find a suitable place for the clock in phosh's top bar when notches are present (since 0.29.0) we didn't take rounded corners into account as most of the time the left and right padding would be enough.

Eccetto che la recovery TWRP ora non ne vuole sapere nulla di funzionare, quindi per reinstallare Magisk ho dovuto fare il giro in largo di patchare la partizione boot. Per il resto, sto ricopiando su la roba, dovrebbe funzionare tutto. 🤫️
The G10 vaccum cleaner is probably the worst #Xiaomi product I've seen. It lasts like 10m on battery, doesn't remember hold/press modes, gets clogged with literally peanuts, the lever that opens the dirt container can very easily break OR OPEN WHEN YOU REMOVE THE THING OFF THE CHARGER SPILLING THE CRAP ALL OVER THE PLACE. Unbeliaveble piece of crap.
Parlando di #emulatori non morti, forse saprete che ne esistono tipo solo 2 che emulano il #NintendoDSi (oltre alla versione base del #NDS), e #melonDS è quello che funziona meglio. 💫️
Mi sta essendo utile l’ #emulazione#DSiWare per controllare cose e catturare schermate sulla #FotocameraDSi senza dover per forza usare la #console reale, per quell’articolo che sto finendo*. Però, per quello non mi serve davvero scattare foto, e quindi mi è stata comoda la funzione per impostare come flusso della camera immagini salvate sul PC (Config > Camera Settings > Image file), che avevo generato al volo con Bing AI per averne della tipologia che mi serviva e con un’aspetto un po’ stock, dimostrative appunto. 🎁️
Preparate il #firmware DSi (che vi consiglio di scaricare da qui, è il dump che uso io e confermo che funziona) da dare all’emulatore, creando due cartelle separate per i file DS e #DSi, e rinominando i file in modo preciso, altrimenti la #app si lamenta:
biosdsi7.bin => dsi/bios7.bin
biosdsi9.bin => dsi/bios9.bin
biosnds7.bin => nds/bios7.bin
biosnds9.bin => nds/bios9.bin
dsfirmware.bin => nds/firmware.bin

Fate “Boot firmware > DSi”, da lì si può avviare la magica #applicazione fotografica, date il permesso quando richiesto, e se tutto va bene potete godere. ❤️🔥️
