@ScottStarkey Martha Wells is an author, and I’ve found myself thoroughly enjoying her Murderbot series.

Gurdeep is inspirational. He performs Bangra dance with people and in amazing locations, and his joy and positivity are infectious.

@futurebird is all about ants and other really cool life forms, as well as science and current events. Big brain, great words.

    A colleague asked me tonight if Language Deprivation Syndrome is over applied to Deaf people. My response was a qualified yes, because we have the issue of hearing people, whose ASL is no better than second grade, judging the language of Deaf people. I can count on one hand the number of hearing teachers I’ve met who would admit that their third or fourth graders have better language than they do. The hearing teachers always go to English - to make themselves feel better, I guess?

    That said, Language Deprivation is definitely a thing. But then so is limited fund of information and educational malnutrition. If I had it my way, people could be punished for not providing full language access the same way they can be punished for not providing adequate food or shelter.

    How much alone time vs socializing do you need?

    For me there are a few people who are usually equalizing, and I can just be around them, so I won't count that. But generally, I find about 3 times a week, I'm game for socializing. A day in between to rest is usually nice, but the larger the gathering or if we go somewhere particularly noisy or I'm meeting new people that involves more effort, and my social battery empties sooner. I'm very curious where everyone else falls on this!

    @RickiTarr Pre-COVID, I would have said I was 100% extrovert. Get a charge by being around people and have never met a stranger. The lockdown tempered that for me a bit; I enjoy solitude a little more, but will still start feeling depressed if I can’t be around people for more than a day or two.

    Presley is settling in. Still tentative with the other girls and a minor fuss here and there, but no fights.
