Cardboard recycling collection time.

Sara is beset by boxes. She fits them into each other like snug Russian dolls, compresses packaging as best she can, unfolds and flattens the boxes that allow for it.

She pauses. And sighs. She picks one up and walks with it into the utility room, adding a new Good Box to the now-teetering Good Box pile.

"But it is a good box. Might come in handy," she mutters to herself. One of those Good Boxes has a postage label on it from the 1990s. Good Box.

So I've been suffering with for a while, months ago I made a flurry of posts about it because it was so troublesome.

Well, at the conference I'm currently leaving, I did a lot of walking. It hasn't been too much for me energy wise but my feet have complained - I even have a fat blister to show for it!

But you know which foot is fine? My right one. The telltale PF pain spot is fine! It ached a little last night but this morning it's good!

It took over a year to get better.

@bastianallgeier Hahaha! I also only could see this light red dim with the naked eye. So to see in which direction I would have to point my "good" camera best I opened the camera app on my Pixel6... Whoa, completely different view with that...

Another green and pink aurora at around 1am last night over an uncultivated field. Some lights from my hometown are visible in the distance.

@leonoverweel @bastianallgeier I don't think that stands true for PV installations, because a huge chunk comes from private installations (I don't have numbers, though). A wind turbine is mighty expensive and has a lot of regulations to follow. Whereas installing solar on one's roof is a lot less hassle and way cheaper. Opening up the regulations and raising the allowed amount of installed Watts for example has within weeks lead to many of my neighbors discussing to get one now.

Ok, I can’t take it anymore.

When trying to pay, Amazon is pestering me by presenting me 7 different places where it is hard not to click on the wrong button because they hate me for not being a prime member. They even tell me that prime delivery takes one day and normal delivery takes 4 (which is a lie).

This can’t be legal. Really. It can’t.

@MoritzGiessmann I've been to South Africa in 2008, also a right-hand-side drive country. And even after four weeks of driving the Garden Route back and forth we managed to enter the main street on the wrong side each and every time when starting at the appartment. To be fair, the appartment was located at a one-way street...

Going to a new doctor in Gemany in 2024:

  1. you hand them your insurance card with all your personal data

  2. you fill out a hand written form with the exact same personal data for their files

  3. you fill out another form with the exact same data to agree to their privacy terms.

I really don’t know if people from other countries are aware how much we live in the digital stone age here.

@bastianallgeier In the beginning of the GDPR shenanigans my doctor didn't really know how to handle the situation. They wanted to be as careful and sensitive as possible and handed out these vibrating notification thingies you get at some restaurants/coffeeshops to the patients so they won't need to announce your name and potentially reveal a secret...
