MIL and I "arguing" about wife's return last nite for a good 15 mins. Ifs, buts, stupid stuff. I thot wife was coming home that nite. MIL thot diff. Finally I asked her why she was so insistant (bc I had my reasons too). She answered, because it's on the schedule. Well, if you fucking knew that, why didn't you just point it out? I retorted. Because I thought you knew. Was I talking like I did? FFS, don't let me go on being wrong!

Japanese thought process is beyond me. Too much assumption.

As a child of the 70s and early 80s I want to know what happened to all those people that regularly just spontaneously combusted? Did they all get abducted by UFOs? Sink in all the quicksand? Got lost in the Bermuda Triangle? Did Nostradamus predict their horrible apocalyptic death? Get lost finding Noah's Ark on the top of a mountain somewhere? Is the Spock guy out there searching for them?

Let me tell you a little story.

Japan is mostly mountainous. There is very little flat land. The whole country is basically a mountain range sticking up out of the sea floor, and the parts of the mountain range that are above the water is called "Japan." Only 10% of the land is flat enough to put buildings on.

Japanese farmers had to be very good at what farmers call "farm management." That is just the reality given their circumstances.

My mum was a typical Asian Tiger mum. When I was in primary school I was one of the last kids in the last class in school. (Students were ranked by performance in my school back then.) So mum started tutoring me. I wanted to avoid her fearsome tutoring sessions so badly that I became one of the top students in the whole dang school in a span of a year so that she will stop tutoring me.

I look back and think that this was her strategy all along.

Remember when the Japan government sent everyone two (!) masks (Abe no mask), but it turned out many of them were defective?

They apparently still have extras laying around, and they use them at a Tokyo kid’s center as name tags. 😳

The kids’ names are stitched on and they wear the mask on their back :gosh:
