My goodness, an article in The Times (contrary to the 30+ before this) that has attempted to be a little calmer about the new Scottish Legislation as some of the hysteria has subsided. Linked so you can read it. Meanwhile the commenters still like to hate.
So the xenophobic idiots* decided to come all the way up to the north to protest against immigration, hopefully they're going to get some broken bones before going back home.
They're the 1143 group which is actually a bunch of neonazis (1143 is the date of foundation of Portugal). This in a country where we are a mix of multiple European (Celts, Romans, Iberians, Goths) and North African peoples, and more if I go further back than the Phoenicians.
"Republicans who are pushing for more restrictive immigration policy ahead of a pivotal election year continue to lean on an old strategy in their appeal to voters: broadly framing immigrant men as dangerous next to imagery of young White women victims."
“Bigotry has rotted the Michigan Republican Party from top to bottom – they can’t look at a basketball team without going into a conspiracy-fueled frenzy.”
Politician decried "illegal invaders" at the Detroit airport. They were college basketball players arriving for the Sweet 16.
Today In Labor History March 26, 1910: Congress amended the Immigration Act of 1907 to specifically bar entrance of “paupers, anarchists, criminals and the diseased.” The amendment was specifically designed to limit entry of Eastern and Southern European immigrants, many of whom were becoming radicalized by the deplorable working and living conditions in late 19th and early 20th century America. The law came in the midst of a wave of anti-immigrant hysteria, whipped up by government and media-generated pro-eugenics propaganda. The original law included the following statement of “undesirables” to be prohibited entry into the United States: “All idiots, imbeciles, feebleminded persons, epileptics, insane persons, and persons who have been insane within five years previous; persons who have had two or more attacks of insanity at any time previously; paupers; persons likely to become a public charge; professional beggars; persons afflicted with tuberculosis or with a loathsome or dangerous contagious disease.”
"We face here in America an important election, probably the most important one in our lifetimes, no matter what age you are. We face clear choices this cycle about who we are as a nation, as people, and as what we want the nations’s future to be."
“'Why do you use words like ‘vermin’ and ‘poisoning of the blood"?' Howard Kurtz, the media critic and interviewer, asked on Fox News. 'The press, as you know, immediately reacts to that by saying, "Well, that’s the kind of language that Hitler and Mussolini used."' 'Because our country is being poisoned,' Mr. Trump responded."
Chanting “Education is a right, not just for the rich and white,” hundreds of Concordia University students marched down Sherbrooke St. Wednesday afternoon before joining their peers at McGill in the latest protest against tuition hikes targeting anglophone universities in Quebec.
Does it surprise anyone? The graphic reminds of the useless wet wipes recent contribution to what they refer to as democracy in England. He was just as despicable then.
Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were detained late on Monday night on allegations of sexual aggression. The warrant was issued by Westminster magistrates court.
Actually the real reason is that Reform needs them back in the UK to campaign for them although Sunak hopes to persuade them to come over all #Tory for the next election. Not a lotta people knoe that.
Today marks the beginning of Ramadan for Muslims. Our Muslim friends have had a rough go in America because of Xenophobia. So please give them some love.
I spent time learning more about their journey by meeting with some folks at a Mosque in our neighborhood. I brought them oranges and told them they had a friend.
Tice says he will be ‘surprised’ if Reform UK does not get more Tory MPs joining – UK politics live
As that gem of a toad, Lee Anderson 'defects’ (the man is full of them), why should we not be surprised. I am sure that many will be considering their allegiance - after all they only joined the Tory party for a bit of righteous xenophobia, misogyny, asset stripping, larcenty and country smashing.
We need to stop trying to make antisemites like us.
When #Churchill carpet-bombed Hamburg, Essen, Cologne, and Dresden, he was not trying to win a popularity contest. When Harry #Truman dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he was not looking to win a Nobel Peace Prize.
Those who protect and enable #Hamas’ #genocide, like the utterly antisemitic and immoral United Nations and #Qatar, must be resisted and their reputations destroyed. American abominations like Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and American Taliban like Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) must have their hatred, bigotry, and antisemitism attacked and exposed in the media nonstop.
They will never like us. Let’s make sure they fear us.
More #xenophobia and anti-#chinese#racebaiting. TikTok isn’t doing anything more egregious than what Meta, X, Snapchat, or any number of popular social media platforms are doing. If these committee members were actually serious, they would author a bill that protects consumers from exploitation no matter who owns the platforms.
Yes, I know. Election year.
“US lawmakers vote 50-0 to force sale of TikTok despite angry calls from users”
Hopefully not too long, but it will be dirty and much to the delight of Conservative funders, Labour are being fragged there as well.
It's ironic that this article is by Katy Balls - political editor of the Spectator and one of the rags that however good the writing, is delighted to encourage the herd rightwards.
This comes across as xenophobic and anti-Chinese baiting from the #Biden administration. The truth of the matter is that modern cars are privacy nightmares, no matter the manufacturer. While it may be true that “vehicles on American roads…could be immediately disabled by somebody in Beijing”, they could also be disabled by someone in Detroit, Austin, or Seoul.
The root of the problem is the fact that cars are allowed to be sold to the consumer with these egregious invasions of privacy. Want to fix the China problem? Fix consumer rights laws so that no one can remote-control your cars.
