It just clicked in my brain. What I haven't been able to articulate about why I'm so anxious about #Windows Recall. I'm sure others have already gotten to where I am.
It's worse than "a system that tracks everything you do" and stores that info in a basic database that could be easily compromised.
It's worse than a nanny surveillance tool for companies to spy on their employees.
It's inescapable.
It doesn't matter if I make a dozen "how to disable recall" tutorials. The second YOUR data shows up on someone ELSE'S screen, it's in THEIR recall database.
It won't matter if you're a master #security expert specialist. You can't account for EVERY other computer you've ever interacted with. If a family member looks up an old email with your personal data in it, your data is now at risk.
If THEIR system is compromised YOUR data is at risk.
I just went from "vague feeling of unease" to "actively writing templates to canvas elected officials, regulators, and attorneys general."
Four days ago, I had another argument with #Windows11 and swapped to @fedora workstation for #AndroidDev . Been so productive, everything just flows, no hiccups. #AndroidStudio behaving perfectly. The same hardware is so much faster too!
The #Windows11 era:
We decided to ruin our image and any reputation we had as an industry standard operating system in the name of innovating with #AI and "changing the way you compute" (or something like that) #Windows#Microsoft#copilot#recall
After dealing with pre-installed malware on this mini-PC, I'm FINALLY done reviewing the hardware! https://somegadgetguy.com/b/459
"Besides the malware" does an Intel Core i9 make sense in a system like this?
I just took delivery of a laptop that came with #Windows 11.
After going through setup I felt abused and violated.
Then, doing anything on this top of the range machine was slow, and despite my answering 'privacy' to every option, it appears that every click in Edge is being sent back to Microsoft, slowing the fastest machine I've ever used.
Having installed Ubuntu 24 side by side makes this even more apparent. (I still want #Windows11 for testing).
Folks that use #Windows11 -- why would my taskbar keep moving from "center" orientation to "left" orientation on its own? I set it to "center" and every once in a while it just moves to the left on its own. I can't find a pattern to the timing. Any thoughts?

This tiny PC is now packing the most powerful laptop chip AMD makes!
Funnily enough, Microsoft threw AMD and Intel under the bus.
NONE of the current selling "AI" PCs qualify for the "CoPilot" branding.
Who knows, maybe you don't want that new Microsoft Recall feature on your system anyway?
A whole slate of new laptops are coming, and of course, manufacturers are trying to impress us with THINNESS! What about test driving a machine at the complete OPPOSITE of the thinness spectrum? https://somegadgetguy.com/b/45T
It's so rad to do a sponsored video like this, and the first thing they ask is "Can you blast our laptop with a hose?"
It's big, thicc, and chunky, but there are SO MANY things on this Getac I wish I had on "regular" thin laptops...
Premiering now! Had a great conversation with Shannon Morse about my issues reviewing some mini PCs that came pre-loaded with malware. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH2R3o-EbTA
She offers some GREAT tips and tricks for folks interested in keeping their home networks secure and their data safe!
"Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 in October 2025, but the company is now taking the unusual step of reopening its beta program for Windows 10 to test new features and improvements."
Are they just going to start cramming more AI into it to see if they can force people to upgrade?
It is once again a good day to be a Linux user. -- Why?
Microsoft is now going to punish people with watermarks if your system does not 100% meet their system requirements, even after you paid for your copy of Windows. -- Trying to shame you to either buy their recommended hardware and accept their recommended settings.
Having an AI ("Windows Recall" is enabled by default) that tracks every move you do on your computer and of course has no filter (Microsoft's own FAQ clearly states it will remember every password you type) is idiotic. But Tech bros are frothing at the mouth for anything AI so here we are.
I still get a LOT of comments, from people who don't really want to learn about current ARM offerings, but like to speculate and complain about what ARM PCs can't do. https://somegadgetguy.com/b/44Y
Before we start getting X Elite hardware, here's what older ARM PCs can do with SIGNIFICANTLY less powerful chips! It's a LOT more than you think...

If the Microsoft Windows 11 PC (which I am forced to use for client/work) is any proof, every Microsoft AI feature added to the OS is subtracting 15-20% of the productivity from your employees. 🙄
@ai6yr New nag from Microsoft to upgrade to Win 11 : It's time to upgrade your PC before end of suppport which they say arrives Oct 14 2025 - which they say means no tech support (that's fine) or SECURITY UPDATES (boooo!) after that date. #microsoft#windows10#windows11
