I already checked Linux Mint 21.2 beta some days ago, I'm pretty satisfied with it, cool for basic desktop usage. Whatever the basic word describes. But 2023 is still not the #linux desktop year. :D #windows + #XBOX merge has advantages in gaming, but for web usage and administrative tasks Linux could be enough. Mac has preference in design toolsets, not to mention. Choosing OS is free, not the OS is free itself! Huge difference though.
Here's a little $8.99 Steam game that seems to seek to be a sort of remake or "inspired by" take on the classic Zarch / Lander / Virus from David Braben. It lacks the amazing control mechanics of the original, but is reminiscent in a number of ways.

Jeżeli wierzyć serwisantom z punktu, w którym komputer spędził ostatnie dwa miesiące (a można im wierzyć lub nie) to jakimś cudem #Windows 10 wymuszając aktualizację BIOSu nadpisał kontroler EC. Żeby odkręcić tę usterkę trzeba byłoby dostać się do kontrolera procesora (Intel Engine Management), który jest kompletnie zamknięty i tylko producent sprzętu (#Lenovo) ma do niego dostęp. Także fajnie.
Zapytacie się więc, czemu nie pójdziemy do autoryzowanego serwisu, który ma odpowiednie narzędzia/pozwolenia/magiczny kod własnościowy i odkręci tę usterkę? Ano dlatego, że takowego nie ma w całym naszym półmilionowym mieście i według wyszukiwarki na stronie producenta takowy nie znajduje się w promieniu 100 km xD

It is pretty interesting watching the Computer Chronicles roll out coverage of the original WindowsNT in 1993. It makes me want to fire up a VM and play with it and/or Windows 3.11 again for some UI nostalgia. It is interesting seeing all the features we've gotten used to in Windows with the modern interface but using the Windows 3.1 style interface. One interesting tidbit which I didn't realize until last week was that NT supported symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) from the original release on. Meanwhile when Apple acquired NeXT in 1997 NeXTSTEP still did not support SMP. My first foray into WindowsNT didn't come until the late-1990s when our engineering labs were equipped with computers running NT 4.0 but none of them had multiple processors. When the work laptop updates and resets your power management settings and keeps going for full shutdown when you close the laptop lid because you're working on an external monitor.. 😡
Good tech staff would have set a policy so that it informs, downloads but does not install the updates until you shutdown/restart & does not change things like power management settings.
Your system should be monitored remotely to indicate whether you have rebooted or not & allow them to force a reboot if necessary.
I work mostly on & with unix / linux platforms but I can’t abide poor Windows management.
I'm so glad that I've been able to deprecate Windows from being my primary OS for computers at home. I have a Surface Pro 3 that I want to chuck out the window every time I use it and I have a Windows 10 VM for a few pieces of software. Everything else is macOS or Linux at this point.
