Here is something you can work on. You could try to mount your volumes as named volume as per this docker-compose file, so that docker takes care of permissions and ownership of the files.

If I understand it correctly you want to use an external drive or a drive partition ? You can’t directly use those partitions as named volume. You can also mount a SAMBA/CIF mounted volume from your external drive/drive partition or NFS (read here).

Do not change this part in the docker-compose I shared above. This files needs to be located where It can find it.

<span style="color:#323232;">    volumes:
</span><span style="color:#323232;">      - ./deploy/docker/local_settings.py:/home/mediacms.io/mediacms/deploy/docker/local_settings.py
</span>

This is what I would give a try. Apart from that, I can’t help you any further, maybe someone else would come up with a better idea :/.

This seems like a stupid permission issue ˆˆ’. Hope you will find your way arround !

Q: team A creates a package called XYZ on PyPI. It only has a few users, but it is used and under active development. Team B shows up and wants to use the same name. They called their package XYZ-toolkit, but when installed it creates a module called XYZ, so people can't use it and the original in the same project without low-level manual grief. Team B is aware of the conflict, but has many more users and isn't willing to change name. Has Team B:

@cferdinandi I don't get why you remove handlers on disconnect though.

If you listen to anything outside your component (window resize, matchMedia().addListener(), global click handler to dismiss popup, etc.), then of course only listen while your element is "live", but for anything on or inside the component itself, does it really “reduce load on the browser’s memory”, I have my doubts.

For instance, see the note at https://lit.dev/docs/components/lifecycle/#use-cases-2, and I trust them on those implications.

I've just started learning #webComponents and oh my days there seems to be a lot of ways to boilerplate this. Should I just use #Lit? It looks like I'd need a bundler which seems overkill for my tiny #11ty site.

Also, are there any good courses around?

tbroyer,
@tbroyer@piaille.fr avatar

@Jbasoo You don't necessarily need a bundler with Lit, you can use prebuilt bundles (https://lit.dev/docs/getting-started/#use-bundles), or import maps (https://lit.dev/docs/tools/requirements/#building-for-modern-browsers)

As for a course, have a look at Rob Eisenberg posts on Medium. He has a course coming on Nov 7.

I've never seen a bigger lie in a specification, I'm pretty sure @hrefna would agree.

Yes, you can parse JSON-LD documents with a JSON parser, but you certainly cannot interact with the result as if it is JSON.

@hrefna@hachyderm.io avatar

@thisismissem Oh and just to add, one of my "favorite" statements like this comes from the in-flight best practices doc: https://w3c.github.io/json-ld-bp/#use-json

Most of this reads like "don't actually use JSON-LD, use JSON and then shove some metadata into it so you can use it with your fancy RDF backend."

Has anyone tried to orchestrate #latexmk in #rstats via #processx? Because I'm running into trouble trying to capture stdout: https://github.com/r-lib/processx/issues/373

I can still fall back to temp files for logging or just reading the (much more verbose) log file latexmk creates anyway, buuut... yknow.

gaborcsardi,
@gaborcsardi@fosstodon.org avatar

@jemsu If you don't need to do anything until the process finishes, then processx::run() is the easiest to use.

If you want to parse the output while the process is running, then process$new() is best, here is an example: https://www.tidyverse.org/blog/2018/09/processx-3.2.0/#use-case-wait-for-an-external-process-to-be-ready

  2. Any pretention of being human strictly illegal

  3. Strong, cryptographically signed human authentication ubiquitously
  4. Medicine-like certification process for commercial models

Perhaps something similar to blockchain, where you can mine some tokens that identify you. And you can throw away like wallets to escape tracking when you need to.

I Really enjoyed reading Akshay Khot, article on Rack, Puma and Rails; teaching kids in India how to use Ruby with Rack and common tools to talk HTTP.

https://www.akshaykhot.com/building-web-application-without-rails/#use-the-rack-reloader-middleware-to-reload-application

I Like tiny essentialist programs that build to larger, more expansive feature-sets over time.

It also reminded me of @olleolleolle being so patient with me as I had so many questions about Rack, Puma, and other Ruby-isms.

This response from @owncast is befuddling.

Not once did I say that running Owncast is expensive. The server software itself isn’t costly to run, and doesn’t require much in the way of hardware specs.

I said that video is expensive. Which it typically is, especially compared to text, photos, audio, etc.

Now if @owncast knows of ways to save on the cost of video, I’m sure everyone would like to learn how. Because it’s not just me who’s concerned about the cost of video. It’s a whole lot of people who would be running an Owncast server but haven’t yet.

So tell me how to do it. If I’m streaming all my video games, I’d rather use #Owncast than #Twitch.

RE: https://fosstodon.org/users/owncast/statuses/110452997356582794

atomicpoet,

@owncast I'm not offended. I have no ulterior motives. Yes, I'm asking in good faith.

And yes, the documentation you sent me was helpful. To get to the meat of it, you advise to use an S3 compatible storage provider:

https://owncast.online/docs/resources-requirements/#use-a-s3-compatible-storage-provider-for-bandwidth

This is simply an opportunity for people to learn about #Owncast, and I'm grateful for your response.
