Time for more cephalopods! This time around, we have Wunderpus photogenicus (yes, this is really the scientific name). The first one we saw was in maybe 15 feet of water and our guide found it before we had all even descended. It didn't seem too bothered as photographers gathered around and snapped away. Philippines diving is epic!
Just got back from a lovely dive trip in Fiji staying at Volivoli Beach Resort. Primarily diving around the main island and the Vatu-i-Ra conservation park.
Just uploaded a few more pictures from my spectacular Philippines trip! This time we've got a teeny tiny "leaf sheep" nudibranch, a peacock Mantis Shrimp, a porcelain crab, and a bobtail squid.
School of fish racing our submarine.
Yaiza, Lanzarote, Spain.
There’s a medium-sized yellow submarine that takes people not too far and not too deep. It departs from Yaiza, in the south of the Canary island Lanzarote, in the Atlantic ocean. #photography#iphonephotography#textures#fish#underwater
My favorite subject of the day was this pink-eared mantis shrimp. I spent probably 20 minutes with this little shrimp between visits at the beginning and end of the dive.

Dumaguete Day #1 is in the books and wow did we have some awesome critters to kick things off. The stars today were the ribbon eels (we saw 3 on the middle dive), the many species of shrimp, crabs, and anemonefish covering every anemone, and the two species of mantis shrimp we spotted on the last dive.
I'm a hobbyist photographer mostly shooting landscapes above water and amazing wildlife underwater whenever I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity. Sharing some images for #PortfolioDay, more at https://photos.shom.dev/
I've switched over to shooting fullframe mirrorless (#a7c) and processing with #darktable, go #foss! I've included the location of the images in the alt-text along with the image description (always looking to improve, feedback welcomed).
Divers are often put at considerable risk when searching for people or objects underwater. The #ETH spin-off #Tethys has developed an #underwater#robot that can be used in situations that are too dangerous for human divers.
