I got the huge ‘puter working (2011 17” MacBook Pro).
Really slow under Sonoma lol
I found a macOS install CD in it, so I’m using it for the size reference
This thing is so funny

Since when does AVPlayerView install its own context menu with weird and unwanted "sharing" commands, overriding the menu I have set myself?

Sigh. Is there documentation for that? I couldn't find anything...

And another in 14.4.1 that never bothered to fix.

Is 17.4.1 really 17.4.1? Or what?

This one is laughable, but it shows the complete lack of quality control from Apple these days.

And yes, that one has been around at least for three years, we had reported it, but hey.

cdfinder, to macos
@cdfinder@techhub.social avatar

It is only SEVEN years after we had reported this glaring and obvious bug in the ExFAT driver of macOS, and yes, it is still here today in 14.4.1

No, , that drive has NOT been created or updated in January 1970.

How I wish Apple would actually start fixing their bugs for once.

And yes, the ExFAT driver in macOS has a LOT more bugs.

Wow, it is 14.4.1 already, and we are still getting these stupid untitled and misleading "notifications" from the badly designed and completely undocumented "security" features in macOS when adding a launch item.

Oh .
We had reported this dangerous and stupid bug two years ago already, but of course Apple has ignored it, like thousands of other bugs.

macOS is such a horrible

So, it turns out that in 14 , if you have a NSPopUpButton, and use removeFromSuperview and then later addSubview to add that item again to a view, macOS doesn't draw the button properly, until it gets clicked at least once.

(setting up said Popup is very expensive, as in "slow", in the app in question, so for 15 years, it was a working idea to keep it around)

Awesome.

Yet another in the long long list of massive problems in the system frameworks in .

Folks, if you have to go to Petaluma from Fairfield (or Napa) Take SR-12 to SR-116 and be treated to heaven on earth vistas thru wine country pretty much the entire ride. The green won’t last too much longer. Highly recommend!

Frybread pop-up is in effect now until they sell out at Cloverdale Nursery! Indian tacos ($12) and plain frybread ($6) is available. These fine folks drove down from Lake County to do this event so come by!! And then shop at the nursery.

Ok, le haut parleur du Mac mini M1 est bloqué au maximum et le changement de volume (y compris couper le son) n'a aucun effet dessus. Ca va être sympa si un reboot ne résout pas le problème...

Here's a fun on

Open Messages. (I used a spam SMS in the video)

Select a word (I double-clicked)

⌘C to copy

⌘+Tab into another app, then back again.

Begin typing.

Voila, the Message bubble is editable!

Since Big Sur, Messages.app is a application, isn't it? -- If you happen to have one that you have control over, could you test whether that's maybe an issue with yours, too?

EDIT: Could be a fluke, only on my machine

Sometimes, this language selection thingie appears on (even during games of StarCraft II) and I can't reliably get rid of it with keyboard shortcuts. Escape, backspace, it doesn't always help.

It now appeared while I was away from my desk for 5min but the text field was selected.

macOS Sarcoma's Screen Sharing has decided that when I connect to my main computer that has two screens, the second screen will be black. In addition, the cursor won't move, and I have to fight to get the insertion point into the password box on the login screen. So yeah, about par for Sarcoma—Apple's flakiest OS in ages.

I'm puzzled!

Anyone knows where I get these Finder .app bundle previews from?

These replace the large file icons which I use to drag files out of Finder, but that doesn't work here.

I thought that this is a feature but must actually be a 3rd party app

Edit: It's @Apparency, thanks everyone!

since gets on my nerves with warnings about unidentified apps that I have signed to run locally.

That used to be very useful for open source projects where the dev team and provisioning profiles aren't shared.

But now it's mostly annoying.

Is there another way than setting a dev team?

Experiencing a 14.3 . I installed the OS last week and now my Mac never automatically goes to sleep anymore. I have to press the sleep button or use the menu.

Anybody else here? Or did you figure it out? Searching seems to indicate it is an unresolved bug, for those who experience it.
