I am posting this from the Mango Pi. I am so impressed on what can run on this little #SBC.

I can even attach stuff toooooooooooo!

Really productive couple of days - I fixed two more Raspberry Pi 3B Plus boards, so they'll find new happy owners instead of turning into e-waste.

Somehow both of them had the same issues - blown PMICs and torn mosfets on the bottom part, as well as corresponding traces.

So I restored the traces and covered them with the solder mask. Had to get a UV light for that, but why not - new toy 😃

I spent a good chunk of the day slimming down my Debian install on the . I moved from (and uninstalled) to . I wholesale uninstalled many preinstalled apps (such as Libre Office, Emacs, Bluez, and much, much more).

I installed and I gotta say, it is running smooth. I am even able to run with out maxing out the CPU or RAM!

All in all, its been a good day.

Bought myself one of these supposedly boards for some small projects. Let's see how it compares to the I already have. The form factor is the same as the rpi3 at least.

No inbuilt wifi for one thing, but it came with heat sink already attached, so that's nice.
I wouldn't mind using an -based system on this, but from what I've seen the process for that is somewhat involved.

🤖 Duo S RISC-V/Arm SBC features Sophgo SG2000 SoC, Ethernet, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5 connectivity - CNX Software

「 Linux and RTOS are said to be supported on the Duo S, and you’ll find buildroot-built OS images on GitHub to boot from either the microSD card or the eMMC flash. As of the current v1.0.9 image, Duo S does not yet support wiringX (C) and pinpong (Python) GPIO libraries, and Arduino support is not implemented either 」

What's the cheapest little home console you can buy off aliexpress that would connect to ? I'd like to buy a few and set them up for my friends and family as presents. Install a frontend like , load it up with roms. Probably a but maybe there's some other that'd do the job?

Over the years I've collected many different single-board computers and microcontroller boards. Too many to even count.

But I don't think I've ever been as excited to get a new one as this: a board from @olimex.

It's a 6502 (well, modern 65C02) mounted on a board, with the IO memory-mapped to an onboard RP2040 so that there is HDMI output, USB, and so on.

Now eagerly waiting for the weekend so I can play with it!

is it just me or are single board computers lately... way too expensive, feature-rich, or hard to get?

I am just trying to find a small thing to run a single small app on. What happened to the kind of raspberry zero they put on a magazine cover?

Some think is crap and anything open source is crap and badly written. Some think is hard to learn. In that case, my Father must be a supergenius for learning how to use at over 40 after years being away from technology and even not having a smartphone running . The old PC we had at home could not run so I installed Debian on it and he has been using , the desktop environment PDF reader and few other things for past 2 years.

farooqkz,
@farooqkz@blackrock.city avatar

BTW, imagine if it wasn't for FOSS, this old PC we have at home would be sold for its metal parts as garbage. Where are the environmentalists?

If he decides to have Linux rather than Windows, a small will be enough for him for few years. It's cheaper, consumes less power and it's also kinda portable unlike a full blown PC. And because of less heat produced, one can predict it'll live for much longer due to less damage done to electronic parts.

Where's the best site to buy a 7" lcd touchscreen & ~300W (Peak 600W) 296Wh rechargeable battery?

Neither need to be in a plastic case because they will be mounted in this vintage soviet oscilloscope with a #SBC.
