Studio Update: A few weeks ago I was soliciting opinions about whether or not to get a Mac Mini to replace my ailing, nearly decade-old PC.
Opinions differed, leaning toward "yes but get more RAM than base model" and I had just about decided not to do it when I stumbled on a good video from a music tech vlogger I really like (video here: https://youtu.be/obkCMxaIIFM) who did exactly what I was thinking and had great results.
I didn't get to test it quite as thoroughly as I'd hoped but preliminary testing was incredibly positive. It runs #Ableton Live Suite 11 without a hitch, as well as #Pigments and the #Korg#Wavestation plugin, which is pretty much my entire computer setup.
(Note: I went #DAWlessright around the time Live 11 was released, and while my old computer's inability to run Live 11 well wasn't the reason why, it didn't exactly push me to stick with the DAW-based world.)
I ran a couple stress tests that just involved dumping multiple instances of plugins in and seeing what happens: it runs like a champ even with 8+ virtual instruments (including multiple instances of #Pigments, which is notoriously CPU-intensive, and multiple instances of Ableton's Wavetable instrument, which always brought my old PC to its knees), plus effects.
This got me kinda excited and I decided to port my current project into #Ableton from the #MPCOne and finish it there.
I was messing around with #Arturia Augmented Grand piano along with #Pigments, made a rather phat-sounding track-stack and then came up with this G-minor riff thing. Drums from Emu Proteus library for Kontakt: https://youtube.com/shorts/FzoIDke9chE

Day20 #ArtAdventCalendar Sometimes I feel "stone-agey" in #design, especially after a #hike in a very special mountain #forest. An ancient #ochre quarry is hidden on the slope. #Legends tell of a magical snake at a spring, often a reference to #geological features. There is still some eroded rock in different ochre colours. I first hammer it into small pieces until I can grind it. This produces pure ochre pigment.
#ArtAdventCalendar Day 3. I am fascinated by #paperArt. #Paper is one of the most versatile materials. It can be cut, shaped, coloured, embossed, and even altered to resemble fabric, embroidered and felted. In a special mixture with plaster of Paris, it becomes a modelling clay. So I can live out my love of #archaeological finds. Inspired by #neolithic#goddesses. Paperclay with hand-grinded ochre and ultramarine
