Yo-Yo Ma performs Bach in Alaska
"I believe it’s culture that can remind us of our responsibility to one another and the planet we call home — like this from Bach’s 2nd cello suite, which I played amidst birch trees decimated by melting permafrost on Lower Tanana Dene lands in Alaska." - Yo-Yo Ma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VHNWAhvdNE#Permafrost#Alaska
What's up with rivers in Alaska's Brooks Range? They are turning orange, likely because nearby permafrost is thawing and causing all sorts of downstream effects...

Well, that's not something which has been known since the 1800s..... not.
So nice of them to regurgitate old news rather than fix the problem.
I remember the very day back in 1984 when my brother came straight from school and told me about it. AN 11 YEAR OLD TOLD ME. BACK IN 1984. WTF. HUMANS.
Gustaf Hugelius on thawing permafrost
Gustaf Hugelius, Professor at the Department of Physical Geography and Vice Director of the Bolin Centre of Climate Research, gives a talk about the global carbon cycle, how thawing permafrost affects the global climate, ecosystems and Arctic peoples. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO-6x7waPNY#Permafrost#Cryosphere
The permafrost is thawing, luring bacteria that will feast on these carbon-rich layers and produce two greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide and methane. How serious is this potential accelerator of climate change? It’s “De-Permafrosting” on Big Picture Science.
Predicting greenhouse gas fluxes to the atmosphere from thawing permafrost
"Abstract: Arctic permafrost is thawing at rapid rates, which threatens to expose large stores of soil organic carbon to microbial degradation" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4tBmBbY5mg#Permafrost#Arctic#Cryosphere
It's been predicted for decades, but idiots didn't care. Arctic #permafrost is now melting so fast that it's releasing more #greenhouse gases than it sinks. Even if we limited #warming to 1.5, a metric we've already surpassed, this melting would continue.
