Reports that the city of #Minneapolis has posted an #eviction notice of an encampment of #unhoused people at 5th Ave & 24th St S for Wednesday, tomorrow, during a continued #blizzard and sub-freezing temperatures, forecast high of 27°F and low of 14°F, down to 8°F within 24 hours of planned encampment #destruction.
Enough promised documentation and defense may help deter or slow down #Minneapolis' rate of destruction of the only homes #houseless people here have. No #evictions would ever happen if #housing were always provided, but even a week's reprieve makes a big difference in this weather. Please spread the word in #Minnesota#MNastodon and stop Frey's murderous #police led approach to #homelessness
This is the Red River of the North that divides #NorthDakota and #Minnesota, seen from Edgewood park today in #Fargo. We took advantage of todays snow storm to finally strap on the snowshoes. This record warm #winter hasn't provided plentiful opportunities for outdoor fun. But today was a good time.
This little guy has been hiding on our deck all night. It's been snowing all night and normally they hang out under the deck but today they seemed to prefer this spot.

The Minnesota state legislature has introduced a bill in both the house and senate to return land stolen - part of a treaty not upheld by the US - to the Indigenous Red Lake Nation.
It's the right thing to do. It will be challenging to accomplish, as it impacts current communities and businesses in the area. But it is the right thing to do.

I try to post a single drone photograph, no more than once a day, as often as possible. It's taken me since 12/19/2022 to reach 200 images.
I try to find images that will "add something" to the existing collection. Some photos are included, just because they are interesting or unique (not necessarily great photos).
#Minnesota folks, watch out for slippery conditions on concrete. I went to bring in my garbage and recycling bins and my feet slid on the ground as I pulled up on them to wheel them inside. The snow landed on the concrete, melted, and is now refreezing as fresh snow falls on top of the wet ice layer.

Today in NW #Minnesota, its 52 degrees. In February. We are on track for the warmest #winter on record. Its been disappointing not to be able to avail ourselves of all the winter activities and outdoor sports we typically enjoy. Instead, I am worrying about deer ticks in February. Wtf.
Next week with temps that could reach the 60s, I will probably get a jump on spring cleanup (which usually happens here in May), with the lawn tractor.
@darren For sure nutz with the non-winter winter. Just checked and over 200 miles on the bike in 2024 already and I don’t do snow/ice/winter riding. Going on a planned “skiing trip” next week. Except its going to be 60 and there is no snow. Lot’s of hiking I guess. #MNastodon

Last February I posted a couple of images of ice racing on a nearby lake. This year, it's been warm and the ice isn't quite thick enough for them to get a permit to have several hundred cars out on the ice.
But, the track is ready and they are checking the thickness of the ice every day and hoping it will get there.
A new Nenookaasi location appeared after the eviction on Tuesday. City Officials spoke publicly yesterday about being MORE aggressive and brutal about not allowing any more encampments to form. Currently drones, city vehicles, and MPD are circling 2213 16th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
At this time they’re not letting people in but if you try to sneak through the alleys between 16th and 17th, you might be able to get into the back gate
