Minnesota is awash in forever chemicals. PFAS gets into the wastewater system, but doesn’t break down, so wastewater effluent pollutes rivers; nutrient-rich sludge spreads PFAS on the landscape; sludge incineration emits PFAS to the air. It’s everywhere. #pfas#ForeverChemicals #3M#MNastodon
A pair of canary grass reeds lean over a #Minnesota lake this morning, just far enough to avoid the mower.
Reed canary is a tall, hearty, invasive grass. Mndot likes to sow it in roadside ditches because it grows fast. But it can quickly spread to streams and lakes. It is nearly impossible to get rid of as it spreads by seed and rhizomes.
I'm in Ward 3. My concern is that the Democratic vote will be split by the three candidates running against Patty Hartmann. Saura Jost is the candidate endorsed by the DFL but unfortunately there are an awful lot of lawn signs around here endorsing Isaac Russell.
When I was at the polling place earlier it seemed the average age of the voters present was about 70. No young people whatsoever.
Off-year elections result in low turnout and can result in strange upsets.
