Taken during a road trip between San Francisco and Portland.
I really just pulled off the road where I saw a modest sign with the word ‘Overlook’. I don’t think there was any name given to the place, which was in southern Oregon. This is the view that greeted me. The photo doesn’t really do it justice.
I'm very excited to show you one of my first medium format photos that I took with my 70-year-old folding camera! In the photo, my wife with our over 18-year-old dog. 🥰 📷
Gear:
• Beier Beirax II (Germany, ~1953)
• E. Ludwig Meritar 105 mm f/4.5
• Ilford XP2 Super 400
Another from my press setup - I've been shooting 35mm and half frame for so long that it took some practice to get back into manual medium format - wind, cock, take, wind - and I ended up with a fair few multiple exposures - but they turned out pretty nice! #filmphotography#mediumformat
Just as I think “yeah, the ‘30’s range focusing Zeiss folder is cute but I probably won’t shoot with it again”, I look at the first 2 frames from the most recent roll with it & I then think, “damn, well that just speaks to the desolation of the human heart” & I ponder what stock to next load in it.
Back home, unpacked. So, here's the thing that might get me back to analog photography: A Rolleiflex S66 medium format SLR released in 1966 that @jillpls had sitting in a closet since forever. This one was probably manufactured in the 70s, judging by the serial number.
It has some technical issues though: the mechanism seems stuck in the "released" position with the mirror flipped up and the film transport crank locked. I'll try to get it fixed and hopefully this beauty can have a second chance.
If anyone knows an address in Berlin where I can get it looked at by someone who knows this camera's mechanism well, that'd be much appreciated. I'd rather not try to fix this myself. Would be a shame to ruin this device by accident.
Taken during a roadtrip between San Francisco and Portland. If you’re ever near the Oregon coast, make the trip to Bandon. Its giant rocks (sea stacks) jutting out of the ocean and sand are phenomenal. Astounding, really. Go.
There used to be a bunch of basically pop-up restaurants that would pop up every night around #shinjuku station. When they were campaigning for the 2016 Olympics, the government had the idea that they made the city look bad, police cracked down, and they eventually got replaced by kebab trucks. They probably weren't sanitary, even before COVID was a concern, but I am sad they are gone. #StreetPhotography#FilmPhotography#analog#photography#ramen#FujiFilm#Pro400N#MediumFormat
