Indonesia's coast guard said on Tuesday it seized an Iranian-flagged supertanker suspected of involvement in the illegal transshipment of crude oil, and vowed to toughen maritime patrols.
Technology does not necessarily improve things -- especially the lives of ordinary, real people -- but it does speed life up. We're expected to do more in less time, with less patience for mistakes. It's no wonder people hearken after a simpler, slower era.
This reflection was part of a series I produced a few years ago. This is HMCS Acadia, which was docked by the Maritime Museum in Halifax harbour. Built in 1913, she survived the Halifax explosion of 1917. https://hmhps.ca/sites/hmcs-acadia

Fascist Russia cut undersea communications cables.
Nothing to see here. Just perfectly normal russian bottom trawling back and forth repeatedly just on top of the main fiber optic internet cable between Svalbard and the Norwegian mainland.
The sabotage of the #Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in the #Baltic Sea shed new light on two incidents in the Norwegian Arctic involving the cutting of communication cables.

Some of you may already know our spectacular 1:50 scale model of the Queen Mary 2 set on a diorama of the Dock 17 of the Hamburger Blohm + Voss shipyard built completely of #lego. This is why in #Britain when something has gone badly wrong, we often say there has been a "total balls up" 😁
