Yesterday it was 20 years ago that I watched The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in the cinema. Yesterday, @clairebraeuer and I watched it again as the finale to our “one LOTR film for each Sunday of Advent” tradition. 😊 It hasn’t aged a day. 😌
No chance of doing any work today. It's our twice-yearly #LordOfTheRings marathon day which means curtains closed, pyjamas on, lots of food and no regrets.
Kicked things off with a spanish omelette and fakey bacon while wor Cate eases us in to the vibe.
Sorry I've been absent for a few days, I've been busy with life stuff away from my paint desk. But today, I did manage to paint up some more Moria Goblins.
Ralph Bakshi’s (https://www.bakshistudio.com)The Lord of the Rings might not be the definitive adaptation of the book trilogy, but 45 years ago the film attempted something bold and very unique for its time, especially in regards to animation, and it has definitely earned its cult classic status.
"In the 1960s, Hollywood’s great white whale was The Lord of the Rings. Many notable filmmakers tried and failed to get an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic off the ground — the Beatles even courted Stanley Kubrick to direct a live-action version with their original music — but most declared it unfilmable."
