NASA Unveils Design for Message Heading to Jupiter’s Moon Europa

The moon shows strong evidence of an ocean under its icy crust, with more than twice the amount of water of all of Earth’s oceans combined. A triangular metal plate on the spacecraft will honor that connection to Earth in several ways.

"New research suggests there’s less oxygen on the icy surface of Jupiter’s moon Europa than thought — and that could affect what if any life might be lurking in the moon’s underground ocean."

NASA’s Juno Mission Measures Oxygen Production at Europa

The ice-covered Jovian moon generates 1,000 tons of oxygen every 24 hours – enough to keep a million humans breathing for a day.

Think scientists know how planets are formed? New simulations show large planets that form far away from their host stars start their lives more like a flattened disk — a shape called an oblate spheroid. Earth, we know, is not flat. But Jupiter may have once been. Here’s more from Science Alert on how the formation of planets might not always go the way we picture in our heads. https://flip.it/GP-ns6
