The amount of creative #AudioTools never ceases to amaze me, and YouTube reviewers with best of the year videos always feed the surprise factor; a very short list from the broadly creative to the very niche:
Here''s something that I've been having a bit of trouble googling an answer for:
My #OpnSense Firewall is protected with HTTPS & a self-signed certificate (or maybe LE). Viewing it on my phone, it shows a page saying it's not trusted and giving me the option to continue anyway, as usual and all is good. On my #iPad, on the other hand, the page title is "This connection is not private" but the page is completely blank...
I thought it was just #Apple Silicon macs that had external display problems on a number of monitors. Now that I have an M1 iPad, I've found out the exact same problem with #iPadOS. Showing any amount of dark imagery will cause some external displays to freak out and this has been an issue since at least first gen M1 chips. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which monitors have issues besides them not being cheap ones. Make sure to research Mac/iPad displays thoroughly before purchase.

After updating to iPadOS 17.1.1 my iPad no longer resolves addresses that are DNS entries originating from the pihole (like 192.168 addresses). Anyone else seeing similar?
We nerds can argue all we want about our #Linux and #BSD machines, but I just helped my mother-in-law migrate from an old #iPad running an outdated version of #ipadOS to a new one. We answered a couple of questions, registered her fingerprint, provided a password, and some three minutes later her life was migrated to a new device and the old one showed a dialog to be wiped for resale or recycling. Exemplary. No IT background needed, just read on the screen and do what it says.
Does #Xcode ever randomly get rid of the “Quit" option for anyone else?
I've been working through a #SwiftUI course, and, about once per week, I'll reach a state where Xcode won't allow me to quit it, the menu option is grayed out, and I have to Force Quit it from the Task Manager.
Since upgrading to iPadOS 17 on my iPad Pro, the mirroring widget now shows two Apple TVs and "Show More..." Problem is, I have only three Apple TVs and the only one I EVER mirror is always initially hidden by "Show More..." This behavior is an enhancement in what manner?
Is there any other #iOS#podcast#app with chapter skipping than #CastroApp? Castro is absolutely lovely but only for iPhone. Looking something I could also use on #macOS and #iPadOS.
I especially like with Castro that you can uncheck chapters you want to automatically skip during playback ❤️
A note: This post started as reply to Jason's excellent post about the iPad being his computer again. I decided to turn my reply into a blog post instead.
In his post Jason focuses on three key attributes of the iPad that he feels are important: Simplicity, familiarity, and flexibility. Though I agree with those points I wanted to focus on flexibility as that's what I find most draws me to the iPad. It online discussion the iPad is often...
Apple Music allows one to disable animated album artwork on iOS and iPadOS... but not on macOS. Why?
What's wild is that the animations will stop if the Mac enters Low Power Mode or if one turns on the “Reduce Motion” option from the Accessibility settings.
Which means that the only reason one can’t disable it in the macOS app is that Apple simply forgot or neglected to add the option to the menu.
