One advice I've given to older Germans about travelling to #Iceland whilst taking their car with them is to spend more time in the Faroe Islands instead.
The Faroe Islands are much better at fulfilling their ideas about heimatromantik, their culture is generally more to their liking and the distances are shorter.
Not to mention that the ferry terminal in Iceland is at the opposite side of the country, (ca. 700 km away) in case you ever want to visit Reykjavik.
@alda the Faroes are wonderful, but we always recommend both with a longer trip. Ferry from Denmark with a stop for a week or so in the Faroes. You don’t have to travel across Iceland to enjoy its beauty, although I love Reykjavik.

Iceland Air has two different sizing rules for an international and a domestic carry-on, which makes perfect sense if you're an international traveller who also has to take a domestic connection at some point.
