I’m literally obsessed with the way the pine tree holds light. The pine needles, the leaking sap, the spiderwebs - they all contribute to a magical ever changing light that is so much fun to try to capture. My family wonders how I can be out there taking pix of the same bird in the same tree. Obviously it’s NEVER the same but they don’t get it 😆 #nature#wildlife#birdwatching#birds#birdphotography#hummingbird
Well….he’s partly in focus at least 😅 I like photographing them on windy days but it’s tough when the branches are blowing all over. Anyways, they seem to be enjoying the unseasonably warm weather we’re having and I think they have fun in the wind! 💨 #backyardbirds#birds#birdwatching#nature#wildlife#hummingbird
Every once in a while, I get a visit from a hummingbird, it looks at me and laughs and then it leaves. 😞 I've tried all kinds of things, and nothing seems to keep them around. I think they're just migrating and passing through for a visit.
I miss seeing the different hummingbirds that I saw in #Colorado. We only get Ruby-Throated hummers here.
This old picture is of a female Rufous Hummingbird. The males are bright orange/red with an irridescent red throat. They're wicked territorial, as are the females.
You can see just a bit of irridescent yellow on her throat.
Gracefully maneuvering through the garden bed. Much harder to catch him amongst all the salvia stalks but it’s a lot of fun trying. I love looking through hummingbird photos because you never know what you captured. Or didn’t! 😆 #nature#wildlife#birds#birdwatching#birdphotography#hummingbird
Can you find the #hummingbird nest? Hint: it’s on a very low branch, so the students can see it and two tiny beaks sticking out ❤️ #birds#gardening#teaching
