This is Papa Bird. He's my spark. I got into birding because of this handsome gentleman single wingedly. He's nested with me for over 5 years now 2 years beyond their average life span!
While hanging out at my Dad's, spotted this downy woodpecker hanging out at the suet. I love the almost "Excuse me?!" pose the woodpecker held when a house sparrow decided to land there too.
Still haven’t processed many of my most recent photos around DC, but have this closeup of a really chill house sparrow that let me get real close with my 85mm lens!
some more pictures from my bugs and #birds day in the garden! nothing too exotic but lots of familiar faces* in the garden today. i was joined by my house #sparrow neighbours (they nest in the tree at the end of the garden), some #pigeons and a #magpie 🐦⬛ of course, a day in north wales wouldn't be complete without some #seagulls too (not pictured)
bonus "spot the sparrow" in the fourth pic (description in the alt text)
You can't see it in the photo, but this house sparrow was hanging with a bunch of red-winged blackbirds a couple months ago. This morning when I started to process this photo, I thought one of the blackbirds was in the upper right-hand corner. But after looking closer, discovered it was yet another interloper - a brown-headed cowbird. I cropped it out.
