Children loved to play with toys in #Roman times too: some 1,800 years ago, a child in Cologne was buried with a terracotta #horse with a rider on wheels. It was certainly a much-loved #toy which the child was also supposed to play with in the afterlife.
For #MustangMonday we have the handsome young stallion known as Gideon, from the south Onaqui range. He is part of a rough crew of young bachelors who are regularly stirring things up, so this quiet pose in special. He is a powerful and formidable 4 yr. old.
It's #FoalFriday! Mama Don't Go! Young foals are curious and love to investigate their territory as they get older and more confident. This little guy looked up and suddenly realized that mom and the family had moved from where he left them, lol.
#StallionSaturday! This black beauty from the south Onaqui herd is known as Cobra, due to the distinctive marking on his face, which unfortunately you can't see well in this image.
#WildHorseWednesday! Get Off My Cloud! A wild stallion runs out, whinnying loudly to warn off an approaching stallion. Letting him know clearly that he is not welcome. I love the sound of thundering hooves and whinnies!
It's #FoalFriday! And everyone loves the babies, even big brothers. I love this family scene as it shows the close connection between family members in the wild.
First of the new cards this year! My take on the Welsh folk tradition of Mari Lwyd.
Nothing says Xmas than a skeletal horse banging on your door for beer and snacks in my opinion! And I know the Welsh feel the same.
Let’s go a-wassailing!
It's #MustangMonday! This black stallion climbed a small ridge to get a better view. The wild ones are always on alert for dangers as well as other horses from competing bands.
For #WildHorseWednesday! Sheldon and the dirty boys! A spring scene from the north Onaqui range with a group of young bachelors, Sheldon, Paco and Sidney.
I don't just photograph wild horses! I actually spend most of my time photographing equine events and portraits. Here is a portrait shot I took last weekend of a young AQHA Perlino stallion who is looking for girlfriends for the fall 😁. This was for his stud flyer.
