Tucked away off main trail towards the nature house was this super cool & huge uprooted tree. There was a lot of petrified wood on it. I really dig petrified wood😀

#CowParsnip is the ONLY #Heracleum species that's native to #NorthAmerica. There's many look-a-likes including the very toxic giant hogweed. I don't recommend trying to #forage & harvest them unless you're very experienced with identifying differences because it's dangerous to do so.
"You will never change anyone’s mind out there on the road. Once you’ve arrived safely you can go ahead and fight the evils of motordom all day long." Pragmatic advice from Eben Weiss in Outside Magazine.
Bumpy week ahead. But coming across these photos of banana slugs made me feel better, so maybe they’ll help your week, too! From my trip to the Redwoods State & National Parks in Northern California, May 2023.
Goldstream #estuary & #wetlands 😍
We sat by the viewing platform benches & ate sandwiches & drank water. We enjoyed seeing 7 bald eagles, circling above & a couple did wonderful aerial acrobatics ❤🦅
The cherry blossoms have passed and the lilacs are now in bloom! Beautiful sunny run today. So many birds around. This week running, I have seen four great egrets, a green heron, baby goslings with their Canadian parents, Mallard ducklings with mom, cormorants, and so many red winged blackbirds! I am enjoying the last few runs of my taper! Almost go time!
