For #PhotoMonday / #FotoMontag a commission to capture some reptile friends. Crested #Gecko s have such fascinating Sauron eyes. CW for #reptiles in close-up
Wir teilen uns die #Ferienwohnung hier übrigens mit einem #Gecko . Hat sich irgendwo im lockeren Türstock versteckt und schaut ab und zu hervor. Mordstrumm 🫣
Our 10-year-old #gecko was shedding this afternoon and it's the first time I actually got to witness it!
Usually I only see her before turning a cloudy white, or afterwards when there are some shreds on her tail or she still has her gloves on. But I got to see her bite at the loose skin and peel it all down like a stretchy papery onesie. Over an hour or so.
Little reminder, that @kde ‘s #KHTML made its way through Apple, returned as #WebKit (#webkitgtk2) to the free desktops and still is a free and one of the most portable browser engines working well and serving as an alternative to #Gecko and #Blink.
Just ran it on a #PPC machine from 2004 yesterday.
A lot of people seem to have opinions on browser cores.
We built one. From scratch. We know what it takes to do, also knowing that big tech does its best to create incompatibilities.
Presto was, IMHO, the best browser engine, but that was more than 10 years ago. I wish development had not been halted and it would not have been halted if I had had anything to say about it.
Now we build Vivaldi on Chromium and we do feel it was the best we could do. We can build a great browser based on Chromium. I hope you are all enjoying Vivaldi. If you have not tried it, please do.
For years I've returned to #Firefox as my web browser; I generally dig #Mozilla and think it's important to support #Gecko. Recently, I must admit I fell in love with many features of #Vivaldi from their nifty little worker-run company, such as workspaces, but it still lacked Firefox's containers and other features. Now I've discovered #Floorp and I'm absolutely loving it: based on Firefox, has all the appealing aesthetics of Vivaldi and the workspaces, but also containers! It makes my Gecko-lovin' geek heart happy. #WebBrowser#WebBrowsers#browsers
Also at #FOSDEM catch me in the FOSS on Mobile Devices Devroom talking about upgrading #Gecko for #SailfishOS, my experiences daily blogging about it and the great support I've received from the amazing #Sailfish#Community.
File this under Only-in-#Hawaii Problems: A baby #gecko has picked my car as his favorite spot to chill. I first noticed him clinging for dear life to the outside of my driver's side window as I was doing about 35 MPH, but that apparently didn't convince him the car isn't a good place to hang out. This pic was taken several hours later.
Accidentally shifted a storage container on the patio while rummaging around in it, and started a little gecko who had been peacefully minding his own business underneath.
This is huge! This could allow other Web browser engines like #Firefox's #Gecko to run on iOS, and expand the possibilities with #WebAssembly on iOS, by allowing engines like #wasmtime to run in Apple phones 🥳
(o/c terms and conditions apply, and the costs might be prohibitive)
One of my favourite photos ever. We put the mango pit on the railing to see who would come to visit. We had to keep the shutter doors closed, or the birds would fly right into the kitchen and help themselves to the food on the counter (or on the stove!)
#SailfishOS#Gecko dev diary Day 228. Searching for the equivalent of clearWindowSurface(), but for the WebView rather than the browser. I think I found it though! 🔎
#SailfishOS#Gecko dev diary Day 235. Wrapping things up before I take a pause until 18th May while I attend the HPC Days conference. Thanks to tortoisedoc for the helpful suggestions and to everyone who's read, boosted and favourited my posts over the last 235 days! I'll be back with more gecko development real soon!
