I spent the last weeks researching #hydrogen bicycles; this is what I found:
The sector is still niche, but it's already beyond demonstration prototypes.
-Hydrogen #fuelcell#ebikes are available for purchase by the general public;
-Hydrogen bikes started with shared bike operators and are now venturing to cargo and private users.
-France's Pragma Mobility is currently the leader, followed by China's Youon Technology.
@GBJames
I expect this monster ego truck to mostly sit in garages & named parking spaces in between commutes. With the occasional run to the mall or superstore.
@bikepedantic $600 off of madsen #cargoBikes = ~$4400 for the #eBikes with rain canopy, lights, front rack. (48V 750W bbs02 motor, thru-axle, mech disk brakes, 9sp)
I gotta say, as an immigrant, I am NOT feeling great about today's election results in the Netherlands.
And as a former resident of the UK, I clearly remember how Brexit was just a stupid joke made by a small party ... until it wasn't.
It's so frustrating to me to see the problems created by right-wing neoliberalism and then having people respond to that by moving further to the right. 😬
@scott@notjustbikes strong disagree on un"fixable within a generation", 1. #eBikes, and 2. #GlobalWarming doesn't give us time to mess around much longer. The grid streets and streetcar suburbs are just a few dozen steel bollards or jersey barriers away from a connected low stress bikeway network, and the truly sprawling suburbs aren't dense enough to matter (if they were, add some five over ones and trolleybus lines to create the 15 minute neighborhoods.) Politics yeah but boomers are dying.
"280 million e-bikes are slashing oil demand far more than electric vehicles. E-bikes and scooters displace 4x as much demand for oil as all of the EVs in the world." #ebikes#BikeTooter
City dwellers across Europe are ditching their cars – and traffic jams, hefty bills and the weight of climate guilt – for cargo bikes. Writing for The Next Web, Siôn Geschwindt explains why he became one of them. https://flip.it/LdM3gU #Tech#EBikes#Technology#Culture
We keep willfully ignoring the actual solution for urban and suburban transport.
We still let the car industry lead with the preservation of their profits instead of looking at what's actually working.
The world’s 280 million electric bikes and mopeds are cutting demand for oil far more than electric cars
@kim_harding imagine if bikes had the infrastructure and subsidy that we lavish on cars! Let alone the money we throw at consumers to get them to buy #EVs 🙃 #eBikes#ClimateAction
