Arabs suffer from a long and systematic stereotyping from the West. From the Orientalist movement of the 18th century till today, Western perceptions of Arabs and by extension Muslims, are based on what they have been conditioned to believe through the media be it in the form of literature, art, and more recently, movies and...
From the archives: The Ms. Texas Senior America pageant celebrates Texan women aged 60 and older living through what the organization’s website calls “the age of elegance.”
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that Sabah also has a bamboo pole dance similar to the Philippines' Tinikling or Singkil. This one is called Magunatip.

I believe that rituals like these is a way for an entire community to grieve and move on from a traumatic event.
"When the Singaporean government asked local writers if they would agree to having their work used to train a large language model, it probably did not expect the country’s tiny literary community to react so fiercely."
Apple's new iPad ad hasn't gone down well with creatives, according to @AxiosNews. The commercial showed a massive hydraulic press crushing musical instruments, arcade games, cameras and paint cans, and reopening to reveal just an iPad. "I'm definitely the target audience for the new iPad Pro but this ad is tone-deaf and insulting to artists of every kind," wrote cartoonist James Kochalka on X. "We think of our tools with reverence and respect, and enjoy a healthy dialogue with them. Our tools are like trusted companions on the journey of art." Here's more.
