US State Department official resigns, says US report on #Gaza inaccurate
A U.S. State Department official who quit this week said on Thursday her resignation was precipitated by an administration report to #Congress that she said falsely stated #Israel was not blocking #humanitarian aid to Gaza, prompting her to resign in protest of President Joe #Biden's Israel policy.
Stacy Gilbert, who served in the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, was a subject matter expert working on the report.
"There is so clearly a right and wrong, and what is in that report is wrong," Gilbert said in an interview.
'Do we know what type of #armaments we [#UK] sell to #Israel? Do we know which companies are selling #arms and the cost of exports? Or is all this an official secret?
Most of this information is not secret. Here is an extract from a Commons library briefing paper on arms exports to Israel.'
Ex-Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence official #AliciaKearns, chair of the House of Commons [#SelectCommitteeOnForeignAffairs] said at a Tory fundraiser that legal advice would mean the UK has to cease all #ArmsSales to Israel without delay
"You said you’re “haunted by the final social media post of Aaron Bushnell, the 25-year-old US Air Force serviceman who self-immolated in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington on February 25.”
You quote him:
➡️ “Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you’re doing it. Right now.”"
Minister libels academics as “Hamas” for speaking out against Israel’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people, loses, and the UK taxpayer foots the bill.
Despite being the largest humanitarian agency in Gaza, UNRWA says it may run out of funds by the end of the month, after at least 18 states or institutions, including many of the agency's biggest funders, announced they were suspending their donations in January.
For people in countries that have suddenly suspended UNRWA funding, PLEASE contact your MP or representative. I've contacted mine today.
I want to know why the UK government has intervened in an ongoing investigation in Gaza, why its suspension of funding extends to the West Bank, and what are its conditions for resuming funding of desperately needed humanitarian aid by the agency that is today sheltering most Palestinians in Gaza. #Gaza#genocide#UNRWA#complicity
I hope EVERY SINGLE MP who voted against a ceasefire sees this today and has it burned into their retinas for the rest of their lives.
I doubt the shameless fuckers will even be aware of it. 🤬 🤬 🤬
You wouldn’t know there’s an ethnic cleansing campaign underway in Gaza looking at the last few days of Canadian media coverage. Our political leaders and media have surrendered to Netanyahu’s fascist regime and its warped, hyper-violent notion of Judaism.
I actually loathe having to flag racism because I hate it but it is still happening. I flag, I confront, I don't pretend it doesn't exist. How can I pretend, when in recent years, hateful racism has arisen to points I was assaulted by racist antimaskers, calling me "fucked up gook" "Chinese plague girl" "Yellow shithead" & worse. While white folks said/did nothing to show me they have basic human decency.
"This piece was originally commissioned by an editor at The Guardian, who asked me to write about the wave of retaliation and censorship of political expression in solidarity with Palestinians that we’ve seen in the past two weeks. Amid my work as an attorney on some of the resulting cases, I carved out some time to write the following. Minutes before it was supposed to be published, the head of the opinion desk wrote me an email that they were unable to run the piece. When I called her for an explanation she had none, and blamed an unnamed higher-up. That a piece on censorship would get killed in this way—without explanation, but plainly in the interest of political suppression—is, beyond the irony of the matter, a grave indictment of the media response to this critical moment in history. —Dylan Saba"
Sorry for sullying your feeds with the monumental shite spewing from the mouth of Richard fucking Tice.
"Boris was wrong, it wasn't a kangaroo court, it was a lynch mob. 'If anything has truly undermined democracy it is this shameful political lynch mob'." #Complicity#UKPolitics#PrivilegesCommittee
Despite the announcement of the suspension of Turkish trade with Israel, a large number of ships continue to import and export daily between Israeli and Turkish ports.
