I actually loathe having to flag racism because I hate it but it is still happening. I flag, I confront, I don't pretend it doesn't exist. How can I pretend, when in recent years, hateful racism has arisen to points I was assaulted by racist antimaskers, calling me "fucked up gook" "Chinese plague girl" "Yellow shithead" & worse. While white folks said/did nothing to show me they have basic human decency.
@msquebanh I don’t allow that around me. I’m old and disabled but those “brave asshats” have never thrown a punch. I can’t abide that kind of animosity towards anyone
@thepoliticalcat@msquebanh Ditto. I’m not brave or heroic but I am intolerant of hate. In all honesty I’m just tired of people not fighting back against these right wing assholes.
@SteveBologna@thepoliticalcat I keep reminding white folks that their strong - NO - goes further than my - please leave us alone words can suffice. Thing is - you're white & because we live in a shit system - the fact you're alive is more important than me or my family being alive. I wish I could fully ignore racism. I can't because it never stopped.
@msquebanh I'm an old white lady and learned a few decades ago that in the world where I can lend my privilege it is my duty and pleasure to do so. Often, when my words would hold little weight, I've learned to literally just stand with people who are being attacked/harangued/assaulted all those things that are almost never directed at me...until I stand next to the target and make eye contact. It's what I have....well, that and a small steel tank I can still swing really hard....
@Lizette603_23 I just literally fought racist assholes & I fought very dirty with drunk ass racists. Only took a couple of pool cue hits to take those racist fuckers down.
@msquebanh I understand what you're saying. I've lived in large cities around the US, Germany and Italy....it was everywhere then (35 years ago) and I can read papers enough to understand, it's everywhere times a billion now. So, my frustration is the imbalance of power, ability to change things. My answer has always been to deal with it when it's infront of me. You see my picture. I'm not imposing. But when WHITE stands up in the moment, it's still rare....
@msquebanh awwww, how kind of you. I can't wear a lot of it anymore, just fingers and wrists...I need oxygen and that isn't very forgiving for earrings or necklaces lol But the thought alone is warming my heart. Thank you.
@msquebanh I'm laughing....you know, my grown daughter (I'm quite old) is insisting that I should have a crossbody bag that is covered with rhinestones and has a old time telephone handset on top, WHICH connects with your smart phone inside the bag. LOLOL!!

There was a racist puke spewing his hate in a full restaurant in Tx and he was a big guy. I couldn’t confront him physically. I could tell the other people in the restaurant were uncomfortable, so I winged a dinner roll at him from across the restaurant & when others saw it they literally stood up in solidarity against his garbage..
