🌐 Was erwarten wir vom UN Global Digital Compact 2024?
Es ist wichtig, sich auf UN-Ebene & eine globale Perspektive auf die digitale Ausgestaltung unserer Zukunft einzubringen.
Wir bei Wikimedia Deutschland plädieren als globale Bewegung auf die Wichtigkeit, eines Offenen Internets. Nur so können sich Freiwillige in einem geschützten Raum der #commons bewegen & ihr Wissen mit uns allen teilen.

Seit 10 Jahren treffen sich die Ehrenamtlichen vor Ort regelmäßig, um gemeinsam an #Wikipedia zu arbeiten, Fotos in Wikimedia #Commons hochzuladen oder Datensätze in #Wikidata anzulegen.
Aber nicht nur die Arbeit, auch der soziale Zusammenhalt spielt eine große Rolle für die Ehrenamtlichen. 💛

How do we live together in #nature? Wood meadows, a managed & productive #ecosystem, can achieve this balance, a model of human activity benefitting #biodiversity.
For research, I’m going to the 14th European Conference on #Ecological Restoration this August in #Estonia, where the wood meadows are the most biodiverse sites in the world.
Mastodon becoming a US entity with a neoliberal board of directors and the goal of growth über alles is the issue here folks, not whether Eugen and company are compensated for their work. Of course they should be and well too. Or is that a privilege reserved only for the mediocre yes-people at the Googles and the Facebooks of the world?
If, on the other hand, maybe we’d like more folks to contribute to the commons and maybe not even be captured by Silicon Valley how about this radical idea: Fund them so they can live (at least as well) as any mediocre yes-person at a mainstream tech company.
