Ich halte ja Versuche, Microsoft-Produkte über Verträge datenschutzkonform nutzbar zu machen, für absolut unsinnig. Das ist so, als würde man versuchen, ein Sieb als Wasserdicht zu verkaufen - weil es vertraglich so vereinbart wurde. Was zählt sind Fakten und die lassen sich nicht aus Verträgen entnehmen, sondern bei der Prüfung des Produkts in der Praxis. Aber anstatt das zu tun, werden Juristen engagiert, die das Produkt dann auf dem Papier datenschutzkonform aussehen lassen. 🤦♂️
So pauschal würde ich es nicht sagen, da ja Juristen wie #Schrem2 die Unvereinbarkeit von amerikanischen Konzernen mit der dortigen Rechtslage #cloudact und dem hiesigen Recht der EU-Bürger mittels #dsgvo überhaupt erst erkannt haben.
Wer allerdings nur als Handlanger einer nicht verantwortungsvollen Unternehmensführung agiert macht sich mitschuldig.

Slacks redesign is a complete disaster. I'm not sure who they think this is for, but it's not me or anyone I know. What real world problem were they trying to solve? So many basic UI screw ups I wonder if they tested this at all.

A student can't afford to pay the $8 per month for #Obsidian sync, so builds a #FOSS alternative. Then posts to HN and says "I probably violate ToS, so will take down the repo if asked".
Then the Obsidian CEO replies. Explains they aren't VC-funded and the $8 bucks subscription keeps the light on. Applauds the work of the student, points to other open ways that content sync can be handled and gives advice "if you rename, there's no ToS problem". 👍
What does violate it is the fact that they choose a provider in an overseas juristiction where compliance with #GDPR isn't even pro-forma assumed if you think any of those [#CloudAct-ignoring legal figleafs re: USA count as such!]
Thus enforcement of #DataProtection rights isn't even assumeable.
Ungekehrt würden die USA nicht nen europäischen #CloudAct tolerieren sondern per #Handelskrieg bestrafen.
Dementsprechend besteht kein Vertrauen in Sachen #Rechtsstaatlichkeit auf Basis dessen ein #Datenexpirt zu legitimieren wäre, ubd ich hoffe dass @noybeu unter @maxschrems das auch wieder klarstellen lassen wird...
Die diversen heftigen Lücken in der Cloud von Microsoft betreffen auch Privatkunden.
Cloud ist praktisch, nutze ich auch. Daher hier wieder ein paar Hinweise:
Es sollten nur Bilder in die Cloud-Bilder-App hochgeladen werden, die nicht gegen einen verwendet werden können.
Persönliche Dokumente, Finanzdaten, manche Bilder, ..., sollten nur verschlüsselt abgelegt werden (z.B. Cryptomator).
Man sollte immer wissen, was man in der Cloud liegen hat -> Aufräumen, löschen, Überblick behalten.
Angesichts von #PRISM, #CloudAct und der geiengefährlichen Unfähigkeit und/oder Unwillen Sicherheit umzusetzen gibt es keine #Vertrauensbasis um irgendwelche #Microsoft-Produkte zu nutzen.
There was a time when I loved working by computer. But apps are so dodgy it's hard to get anything done reliably. MS Word constantly flashes extraneous page thumbnails & bits of garbage as I compose. Warns me it can't sync with cloud then it can. So distracting. Adobe rushes out updates that mess up so bad I spend a day fixing it. Chrome & any apps relying on it crash continuously. Can I go back to buying software & have it run w/o the cloud. I hate this future. #technology#rant
Hier ist ein Totalausfall der Microsoft-Sicherheit beschrieben, ausgenutzt durch russische Hacker. Auch NGOs sollen angegriffen worden sein. Da könnte man ja eigentlich vorschlagen, die Datenkraken zu löschen und gut?
