Boycotts were used often by colonists to fight against the British govt - & often led by women.
They would break into shops & destroy British imports being sold, sometimes chasing the shopowner out of business.
& when a merchant tried to make unfair profits by charging "surge" prices for staples like bread, women would storm the shop, threatening him until he gave in.
