Here's an immature Heermann's Gull (Larus heermanni) that I photographed in La Jolla this morning. Another photographer ID'ed it first and when I passed the knowledge on, one lady replied "Oh! That's a lifer for me!" — the Audubon Society's Bird Festival is in town! :D
These two are Royal Terns (Thalasseus maximus) — the bird in focus is in non-breeding plumage, with a white forehead; the bird in the background has the black breeding plumage on the head.
I'm ending this thread of bird photos from today with a Brandt's Cormorant in flight, carrying nesting material. The bird is slowing down its flight in mid air here as it approaches the cliff with the nesting site. Cheers & good night from San Diego.
Feeling more human today after picking up a bug at a conference last week. Got out with the #BIF rig this evening. I think the the warbler is pissed off and mad about it.

All was quiet on the Billy Neill Playing Fields… until it wasn’t!
A #sparrowhawk flushed from the trees by an irate #HoodedCrow and was chased across the pitches.
Needless to say, that was the end of #birdwatching for the morning 🤷♂️
My Dad's favorite bird is the pelican. White pelicans, brown pelicans, any pelican. So I was thinking of my Dad when this Australian pelican flew from the direction of the beach to the estuary where we were standing, staring at terns, circled, and did a water landing.
Enhanced In Flight Great Blue Heron by Debra Martz Back in May when asked what I would like to do for Mother's Day....well, how about some bird watching! And so we did just that in Port Aransas, TX. This Great Blue Heron gave me a great photo opportunity when it flew by rather close to the observation deck at Leonabelle.
Thrilled by this #SaturdaySighting of well over 100 snow geese that just rose out of the marsh where I was walking and then soared about together as though they wanted to get a murmuration going.
