Spent some time hanging out with some blue #damselflies at the lake before coming back home 😊
Damselflies have existed since the Late #Jurassic period & found on every continent except Antarctica. Presence of damselflies & the larger dragonflies, indicates a healthy #ecosystem.
Do you want flow-through tanks? Our snail lab is about to move to a brand-new facility, and we have to get rid of flow-through tanks we are using right now. Since they are fully operational, it is quite a waste. Therefore, we are wondering if some researchers are interested in adopting them!
#Deoxygenation is commonly observed in #oceans and #lakes but less expected in #rivers. Assessments of almost 800 rivers revealed persistent warming in 87% and deoxygenation in 70% of the rivers. Mean deoxygenation rates per decade were higher than those in oceans. Projected future rates are between 1.6 and 2.5 times higher than historical rates, indicating significant ramifications for #waterquality and #aquatic#ecosystems.
How climate change threatens the hidden diversity of aquatic ecosystems like coral reefs (www.theglobeandmail.com)
Coral reefs are home to a quarter of all life in the ocean and are vulnerable to marine heat waves that are now becoming a major threat to ocean life
