Good evening everyone, hope you had a good Sunday! After our trip to the Botanical Gardens we did a couple hours of yardwork, the joys of home ownership. I did have time for a contemplative walk around the lake while listening to my audiobook. Overall a wonderful weekend.
Now I'm patiently waiting for mashed potatoes and pork loin, my Sunday evening dinner.
Look, I know it's now a millennial cringe thing to talk about #adulting, but today I've gone to the dentist, put in a warranty claim for a dehumidifier, applied for a formal position as a statistician, and emailed the electricians about fixing an electrical thing, and I need some goddammed recognition that I have been a goddamned responsible fucking adult today.

Carpet shampoo is for carpets that are installed on a subfloor. If you have a rug that is on a finished floor, don't go shampooing it. You're going to damage the floor. Take the rug outside and scrub it.
If you are lucky enough to have a carport/driveway and a power washer, there you go. If not, you may have to get creative.
Just make sure the rug is all the way dry before you put it back down again. Else you will get mold that will poison you. #AdultingTips#adulting#tips
One, any residual cleaner in it could ruin the floor, especially if it's wood floor. My floors have ugly black rectangles now.
The main reason though is that a mop in continuous contact with a surface, pressing down with the force of gravity, doesn't get air all around and through it to dry it out fully. So it sours and gets disgusting. And gets the floor disgusting too. #AdultingTips#adulting#tips
When you are done washing dishes, rinse the scrubby sponge out really well and wring it out really well and set it where it can get air all around it to dry. This stops it from getting disgusting. And that makes it last much longer. #AdultingTips#adulting#tips
For heaven's sake, if the pan or pot or other metal dish you are scrubbing has any kind of coating whatsoever, use the blue kind of scrubby sponge. Not the yellow and green kind.
If you made brownies in a teflon coated cake pan, please do not use a metal knife to cut up the brownies. Cut them up with something plastic please. Metal on teflon ruins the coating.

Do not teach your dog that biting hands is a fun game. Especially if your dog is a pitbull, German Shepherd, Doberman, or any other breed vulnerable to legislation. With new washing machine and detergent technology, it may not be necessary to separate your colors from your whites anymore. But you might want to consider separating things that generate lint from things that pick up lint.
With almost anything, it is about at least 10 times easier to clean up something if you wipe it right away than if you come back to it later. Get it while it's still wet.

When you buy something that's in a jar, especially a jar that makes a popping noise when you open it, examine the label very carefully to see if it says, "Refrigerate After Opening" anywhere on it. High probability, you need to put it in the fridge.

A lot of times you can stir fry a leftover.
Or waffle it in one of those little tiny $10 waffle irons. Get creative and inventive with your leftovers.

Don't wear the same shoes two days in a row. Especially don't wear the same shoes weeks in a row. Let them air out thoroughly between wearings. This will not only prevent odor but prevent itchy feet too.
