Wiosenny, gruntowny upgrade domowego serwera (czy tam homelaba) zakończony.

Totalna przesiadka z HP 800 Mini (który niedawno tutaj sprzedawałem) na nieco większe minipc asrock Deskmini X300 z procesorem AMD Ryzen 7 5700G. Obudow Asrocka jest o tyle ciekawa, że pozwala zainstalować dwa dyski NVMe (niestety, brak raida1 hw dla nvme) oraz dwa dyski 2,5". Te dwa ostatnie sloty wykorzystałem na instalację dwóch dysków SATA 2,5" 2 TB, które działają w raid1

So glad to have the #mastodon 4.1.2 upgrade live on #yunohost. First thing I did was run: tootctl media remove --remove-headers and --prune-profiles. Freed up over 40GB on my single-user instance. This option was LOOOOONG overdue. Love it!

Dzisiaj na #blog całkiem obszerny wpis o #YunoHost, czyli narzędziu do #SelfHosting, ale dla mniej technicznych lub technicznych, ale leniwych 😁
Omówiłem czym jest to narzędzie, jak je zainstalować na serwerze #Oracle (lub dowolnym innym z Debianem), jak przeprowadzić podstawową konfigurację i zrobić kopię zapasową. Taki poradnik bazowy, wystarczający do rozpoczęcia przygody z tym środowiskiem 😉

My experiments with running my own lightweight instance of the #fediverse have yielded poor results (via #yunohost ). A summary:

• #Pleroma installs but login does not work at all
• #gotosocial would be a great alternative but they have not prioritized registration (so users can't sign up themselves)
• #misskey did not even install, I assume due to Node.js running out of RAM during the build process

It's been a long time I haven't posted a #microblogpub update, so here we go:

On the #ActivityPub side:

• A blocked server entry now blocks all subdomains
• New "GIF mode" for video without audio (as Mastodon converts GIF to video, we now autoplay them in a loop when "hovered")
• The media proxy is more stable (bigger timeout + retries)
• A bunch of bug fixes and improvements

On the #IndieWeb side:

• Webmentions replies/likes/reposts are now being merged with ActivityPub interactions
• Improved microformats2 markup in templates

Also, in case you're worried, microblogpub is not vulnerable to the activitypub-troll[.]cf "attacks", as we're not fetching all the profiles mentioned in a note.

And I also pushed a #YunoHost update.

@dudenas not dismissing pleroma and gotoSocial etc at all. :) I am very glad these options exist. When I chose to self host in 2020, pleroma was still very new and most of the current alternatives didn't exist yet. Today I am not sure if I might have made a different choice.

but the smaller user base can be a draw back. this post is about options, not dismissing any of them :)
