Something funny just happened. My constant desire to procrastinate got the better of me again and I decided to download xscreensaver for ubuntu. Naturally, I decided to check out the screensavers that come prepackaged with it. One of them is called zoom and guess what happens when I decide to preview it?
Yeah exactly you have guessed it, #xscreensaver starts the program zoom. like, like, the video conferencing software. I was utterly baffled but it seems like I am not the first person to encounter this hilarious problem (see screenshot)
For whatever reason, my computer won't suspend or hibernate. I have generally assumed it has to do with using DisplayPort for my primary monitor and HDMI for my secondary... but never quite figured it out. It is not a big deal since I turn my computer off when I am not using it anyway. Instead of continuing to dig into the weeds... I decided to install Xscreensaver and enable almost all of the screensavers. Left my computer for about 20 minutes and returned to Pacman on my primary monitor and a dancing wireframe box on my secondary monitor. Highly recommended.
The password box for #xscreensaver is different in #Debian 12, and I'm not sure I'm ready for that. You can't just not change something for 20 years and then change it on me.
Saw a boost from @jwz yesterday about Xscreensaver being broken on Ventura... and realized I hadn't seen a BSOD since upgrading.
Just checked System Preferences -> Screen Saver and got this, followed by a completely empty Screen Saver panel in prefs. I can't even pick one of the standard macOS savers, there's nothing there.
I dunno how this happened, but a #MacOS Ventura Update installed last night and completely broke screen savers. #XScreensaver doesn't work, most of the stock screen savers don't work! The "Ventura" Screen Saver added in this release does work, so I'm assuming someone messed with the code and fricked it all up. Tagging @jwz in this since it does affect XScreenSaver
OC xscreensaver appears only on one of two monitors
I have a Debian Bullseye system, ASUS PN53 (built in Radeon graphics) with two monitors, one connected via HDMI and one using a USB-C adapter....
