Ya know, it just occurred to me, dark humour may be part of our parasympathetic response array.

Horrible thing happens: limbic system flips out.

Terribly inappropriate dark joke: BAHAHAHAHA! Limbic system goes: "whoo! better out than in amirite?" (has nap)

Home. First cuppa tea consumed. It's raining here! Sorry, , I really tried to do my best with the rain! Hoping the sore throat is and and not the spicy cough, because parents refuse to wear masks. Wonderdog sang me the welcome song of her people ("Aroooooo! AROOO roo roo!") which is reserved for special occasions, and I think I'm going to bed, and partner snoozing too. Thank you, MastoFam, for your love and support, you lot are brilliant.

We’ll be discussing toxic stress with an expert in the field, Dr. Lawson Wulsin, at a free online webinar on Thursday, hosted by our health editor.

Dr. Wulsin has written about his work for us, too, in addition to his recent book:

Some forms of stress are a speedway ticket to accelerated aging and even early death.

A psychiatrist and medical professor helps lay out the differences between good stress and the toxic kind.

How can we treat it? By adopting daily habits that help the stress response system self-regulate.

Wot, me, stressed? Nah, I wasn’t the one bursting into tears when the receptionists at the #Dentist told me I was there for a “periclean” appointment (I had psyched myself up for my routine 3 month clean, polish, fluoride- 3 months because #Sjogrens) - I ended up saying through tears “I’m autistic, please don’t suddenly spring changes on me.” Turns out it was the new dentist (mine’s on mat leave) saving me money through the system. And everyone was very kind. Might be #stress, eh?

Dienen #Digitalisierung und #Robotik in der beruflichen #Pflege vielleicht nicht nur der effizienteren Nutzung von Zeit, sondern auch der Vermeidung von #Stress durch #Interaktionsarbeit?

Schon 1990 schrieb Bernhard Badura:
"Es gibt Anzeichen dafür, daß die Technisierung der Medizin von den Ärzten auch zur Vermeidung von Interaktionsstreß genutzt wird, wie er mit einer angemessenen psychosozialen Versorgung der Patienten nahezu zwangsläufig verbunden ist."

I really hate waiting for parcels from Royal Mail. They text me over the weekend to say my parcel was due today between 8:50 - 12:50.

It is now nearly 6pm and no sign of the parcel. Their tracking just says it is "In transit" on its way to me.

I had given up, but then saw a Royal Mail van delivering parcels on the opposite side of the green just after 5pm. I need to go out now, and still no idea what is going on.

These stories take place above and below the streets of #London. They explore the connection between strangers, the assumptions we make, and how overlooked encounters have unforeseen effects.

Sounds interesting? Link in bio.

ORCAS AND DOLPHINS DO NOT BELONG IN CAPTIVITY!

Keeping #dolphins, #orcas and other cetaceans in #captivity is cruel. Depriving them of the vast open spaces and social bonds that they would normally have in the wild, and confining them to small, concrete #tanks to perform tricks for dead fish is highly unethical for these complex marine mammals. No matter how sophisticated the enclosure, no man made facility can ever hope to replicate the wild world of dolphins and whales.

one must conclude that confining and other to a small space inevitably causes in the animals. This negative effect is reinforced by the fact that dolphins used in swim programs have to be trained by the means of to endure the constant pressure of being treated as . If they don’t perform, such as pulling people along through the water or “kissing” people, they don’t eat.

En fait écouter de la musique ne rend pas plus intelligent mais plus heureux. 😊
