It'd be impossible to come up with any sort of definitive list, especially a short one, of great songs in which Steve Albini was involved. But below are a few, in no particular order that have long appealed to me.
Steve Albini. Fond memories of the many times #Shellac was in town. When there was time in the tour schedule, they would invite everyone back for pancakes on Sunday, and a morning show. It’s nice to see the letters, kranky takes, and tales of Bob Weston saving the day by salvaging a power supply to continue recording as scheduled. Guy was punk, and like many aging punks, needs more rest than they know. Fuck heart attacks. #SteveAlbini
Rest in power to the great #SteveAlbini. Hard to overstate what an important role he played in shaping the sound of American popular music in the 90s. Also his explainer about record contract fuckery is a classic I've included on many a syllabus.

JIMMY PAGE Pays Tribute To STEVE ALBINI: 'He Was So Passionate And Knowledgeable'
Legendary LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page has paid tribute to producer Steve Albini. Steve served as recording engineer and mixer for Page's 1998 collaborative album with Jimmy's ZEPPELIN bandmate Robert Plant, "Walking Into Clarksdale".
We’re still on a break from posting spotlights on albums from our 1001 Other Albums list, but I’m stressed and sad, and therefore I need a little list-making therapy. And so, in honor of the late great Steve Albini who suddenly left us this week, here is a (possibly incomplete) list of the albums from The List that he had a part in, in one way or another:
I think those make a nice little tribute playlist to keep us going for a bit. And, if you want to look up more, here is a (likely very incomplete) list of other bands/artists on The List that Albini worked with, on albums of theirs not on The List: Ben Frost, Cheap Trick, Don Caballero, Esben and the Witch, Fugazi, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Gogol Bordello, Jim O’Rourke, Jimmy Page, Joanna Newsom, Low, Manic Street Preachers, Mogwai, Nine Inch Nails, Pussy Galore, Richard Youngs, Robert Plant, Songs: Ohia, The Ex, The Stooges, and Yonatan Gat.
Feel free to share your favorite Albini-ed album below (and, if it’s not already in The List, let me know if you want me to add it).
Okay, so, like, this is the first #Shellac album I've ever listened to. I honestly didn't know until he died that #SteveAlbini was also actually in bands. I must've heard them before at some point, I just didn't know the connection. Wtf, RIP, tattoo the names of the dead on your hands, etc. etc.
