Hmm, vintage Danish MCM (Stanley?) chair.. has seem better days. Wonder if this one can be restored. (no, don't need more projects, LOL). The one behind it also looks like a classic MCM.

Afternoon . Warning - hacking may ensue.

This 15yr old (?) clock radio has suddenly stopped doing the one thing we use it for – projecting the time onto a corner of the bedroom ceiling. It's just out of view, unless you're looking for it.

Of course, once it's gone, you go nuts all night looking for it.

More about the unit…

So all the parts fit together and we were again able to see that gentle, dim, red glow of the time in the corner of the ceiling again these past few nights.

The regulator circuit seems happy, nothing getting warm to melt my 3Dprinted case. Seems like a success.

Should be good for a few more years.

It's free BBQ season around here. My advice: you can usually restore Weber grills (all parts are replaceable), and usually it's mostly Simply Green and replacing the burners, grills, and the igniter. You'll end up with something much better (IMHO) than whatever the 'sale" grill was at the big box store.

The surprise week of early winter snow is melting, leaving all the grit behind on the footpath. To stop us walking it all in I sweep it up; but then put it back in the bucket so it can be used again. That seems somehow very tight-fisted. Am I taking too far, or is this normal?

So, last year, I made up similar plant-pots using toilet-paper and paper towel rolls, surrounded by newspaper -- but I had some mold issues with the newspaper (though I did have a good success rate with most of my seedlings). Trying out a similar method using torn up paper bags. I soak the paper bags in water, then shape them around the rolls until they dry out. I think they'll be a good substitute for peat pots -- but we'll find out in a couple of months...!

My excellent sister gave me her old laptop last weekend, as she'd upgraded, and I didn't have one. The spacebar didn't work - - & one of the hinges was broken.

My wonderful hubster fixed the hinges, & just today, dismantled the whole thing to get a new keyboard in there. This was no mean feat; it involved dremelling off rivets to get at it (and soldering to reaffix it afterwards). All working now and I'm so grateful!

I’ve had an idea for a few yrs to open a grocery store where everything is organic, sustainable and available in bulk, from laundry soap to pickles. Shoppers could have their glass and steel containers sanitized on site for re-use. No plastic. You just return with your containers. Then I’d franchise the whole operation.

I teach and yet with all of my crafty ideas (some I’ve later seen done by others) I never have time to pursue!

Was just out to chop up our old aluminum storm door with the reciprocating saw.

It's seen a lot of winters and storms - probably 40 of them anyway. Had lost the finish on its hardware and been retrofitted a few times with replacement bits and fixes. Well past time to retire it.

I approach disposal of manufactured goods w hesitation, as I'm capable of fixing many things, and I dislike waste. At some point there are diminishing returns both functionally and esthetically.
