Our small game dev team completed the Windows platform game Moon Child in 1997.

Our coder managed to revive the game, embedded in a web page:

https://proofofconcept.nl/portfolio/moonchild/

Increase the page zoom level of your browser to enlarge the game frame to a near full-screen experience.

Before playing, click on the "Enable cheat" link below the game frame, for unlimited lives.

Control Moon Child with the cursor keys and spacebar.

Enjoy!

CVG 149 - April 1994 (UK) has just been added to the magazine catalogue.

I really dislike this cover.
I don't like sports covers in general, but to put American Football on a European video game magazine cover, sure is a choice... 👀
But there's quite a bit of great content in the magazine itself.

Anyway, this issue can be downloaded here:

It doesn't immediately look like RetroArch PUAE supports games with two joystick inputs, or that use all four CD32 buttons. Is that right?

The new retro gaming handheld, which runs 13 and has a 720x720 (1:1) screen is now available for a slight discount during the Dragonboat Festival time. Of course it can also run Stradew Valley, Minecraft, etc... as it comes with Play store enabled.

i'm always surprised at how overlooked Inherit the Earth is by the adventure gaming crowd.

i can understand why: it doesn't fit cleanly into the sierra-lucasarts design dichotomy, all of the characters are animals/"morphs", and the game switches between isometric and theatrical perspectives constantly.

all of those reasons alone are enough to make me enjoy an adventure game. but what stands out to me today is just how unique it all feels. the gameplay freely moves between mystery, exploration, treasure hunt and social squabbles without falling too deeply into the genre traps that have plagued adventure games for decades

even after three decades i'm surprised every time at how fascinating this little world is. i wish the dreamer's guild and talin/david joiner had be given more time and money to make games like this.

edit: he's got some very touching blog posts about his days building ITE and Faery Tale Adventure which I linked to here:

Continuing on my dive into pinball yet again, I just found out that the Zaccaria collection has been delisted in Europe.
So I grabbed $60 in US PSN cards at play Asia and bought the full set with my American account just to make sure I got them before those get delisted one day.

Such a damn shame this keeps happening with digital pinball. 😒

I am STILL too much of a fraidy cat to play Alone in the Dark, the New Nightmare, but I wish I wasn't!

Be a real Hoopy Frood and check out this Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy video game for the Commodore 64. It's the complete set with all the feelies, and it's currently at $18 with about a day left. If you're into classic text adventures or the Hitchhiker's series, this is a cool find. Here's the link: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/199877057

There’s no reason for the Silent Hill 2 Remake to exist except to make money for a former gaming company way past its prime.

Play Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition instead.

Watching this very good playthrough of Ninja Gaiden on NES, with just enough mistakes to convince me it's not tool-assisted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V822oMzJQSg

One remembers only an ugly, cruel game, but watching this played by an expert is so rewarding. Stunned to rediscover how much of my lifelong mental background-music playlist comes from this game.

I've always mourned Commodore's demise. 😢 In an alternate universe, Commodore could have been what Apple is today.
